After school I started walking to my car when I got a text from Charlie
Hey can you stop by, I think we found something.
I text him back telling him I'm on my way. I got in my car and started driving over, I wonder what they found. Did they find out about Madison's father and who is behind all of this. I'm really glad they found something on this mission, but sad because I'm enjoying spending time with Madison and I really don't want to leave her. Also if I did leave who will protect her, what if someone came after her and I wasn't there to help her.
I reached the FBI station, showed my id. I walked into Charlie's office, he was sitting at his seat looking over some files.
"Hey Charlie, you wanted to see me."
He looks up from his files, "Yeah, we found something...some thing important." He said as he got up from his chair and started walking towards the doorway where I was standing. "Follow me."
We were walking down the hallway to the scientist room, when we walked in our two scientist were concentrating on something, because they had their two white coats on and bending over on the counter.
Charlie cleared his throat to get their attentions that we were in the room.
They look at us startled, "Hey, did not see you guys there." Cameron said.
"What are you guys doing?" Charlie said .
"We were just looking over again of what we found." Jackson said.
"Well, since you guys have it out, can you tell Riley what you guys found."
I walked over to the counter and they had the blueberries in the tubes.
"Okay so we found out these blueberries are no normal blueberries. There are very dangerous. They have a drug in them, where they give you energy and very smart."
"Okay we already know that, so who is behind all of this?" I asked strictly.
"Well..." Cameron looks at Jackson giving him a look to have Jackson jump in and take over.
"We were thinking its one the students that you know from school." Jackson said as he jumped in for Cameron.
My eyebrows pulled together, "From school, why would someone from there have anything to do with this? Or have a connection with Madison's father?"
"That is something we need you to find out." Charlie said.
I nodded my head in agreement. I'm very curious of who is up to this plan. I really did not think it was someone at school, the only people who came into mind was Madison's father that is the obvious one and the guy who sits outside Madison's house. When I go back to school tomorrow, I will take a closer look who is around Madison.
My phone beeped telling me I received a text message, Charlie looked at me with a stern look and I gave him a apologetic look. He waved his hand telling me its alright. I dug into my pocket for my phone and pulled it out.
Hey, where are you, is everything alright?
The text is from Madison and I text her back.
Yeah, everything is fine. I will be there soon.
Charlie folded his arms into his chest, "Who is that?"
I looked up from my phone and I can see he has a stern look, he does not like it when things are interrupted with important business.
I cleared my throat, " Its Madison, we are suppose to meet up..."
"What are you guys suppose to do?" He asked in a unpleasant tone.
"We are just practicing for our math triathlon, that's all."
"That better be all. You know the rules, Riley."
"I know, Charlie." I interrupted him harshly.
"Good. I'm glad you do." He paused to take a breath, "Now..."
My phone beeped again and Charlie looked at me.
I looked at it and it was still a text from Madison
My dad won't be here, so we can get our math done and continue where we left off at lunch. See you here soon.
At the end of the text she put a winky face, which I couldn't stop myself from smiling, I thought it was so adorable of her doing that. Charlie cleared his throat, I looked up at him and he looked very angry.
"Sorry." I said putting my phone away quickly.
"Now, can we get back to business without being interrupted?" He said giving me a stern look.
"Okay, we need to figure out who is helping and who is doing the planning with this operation and we need to do this fast, before someone dies of this speed like blueberries."
"I will look to see if anyone acts suspicious when they are with Madison."
"You were suppose to do that in the first place, but you have been doing is acting like a normal teenager when you are not."
I saw Cameron and Jackson mouth form into 'ooh' and look away uncomfortable. I looked back at Charlie, "Well, I know I'm not you're typical teenager, but news flash Charlie I' am a teenager."
"You know if you're father was still here, he would have this mission over in a day or so, but we have not even accomplish that. We still have not found out who is behind this, because of your love fest with Madsion."
That was painful what Charlie said, I know that I'm not my father and I know he was a hell of a good spy and no one could take his place, but a small part of me thought I could be the one who could since I' am his son, but apparently to Charlie I was not and that really hurts because he was super close to my father and I looked up to him as one since I did not have a father figure anymore, but I guess I was not a son to him and he didn't see the faith in me to finish this mission.
"Well, I'm sorry I could not be a perfect spy like my father." My voice came out harsh.
"Riley!"
I left the room and heard Charlie yell out, "Riley come back here!"
I just kept walking and left the building to my car and headed towards Madison's house.
I reached to her house, I was about to knock on her door when she opened it.
"Hey..."
She grabbed me by my shirt, pulling me in the house, which took me by surprise. She closed the door and kissed me. Wow, that took me by surprise, it did not seem like her, but who cares that was damn sexy. The kiss got more passionate and we got to the couch and she was kissing me roughly. I pushed her shoulders back to stop her, even though I wanted to prolong this, but what Charlie said was replaying in my mind, that I can't lead her on, I really want to be with her, but being with her can put her in danger.
"Madison, we need to stop." I said softly, because I really did not want to say that.
She leans forward to kiss me again, "Why?"
I lean back, "because..."
"Because why?" She kept moving closer.
" I'm not right for you, we can't be together." Which really hurt me to say that, because I deeply believe that we are meant for each other.
She stops and really looks at me, "Wait, why not?"
I stood up, "It just has to be, right now."
She stood up, "Why are you doing this Riley?"
I stood up and put my hand on her cheek, "I don't want to do this, I do want to be with you, but right now, I just can't."
Tears started forming in her eyes, "Riley, I want to be with you." Tears were falling on her cheeks. "Who is making you not want to be with me?"
"I can't tell you" I look down then back up at her, "but right now, we can't be together. I want you safe." I gave her small kiss and walked out.
I got to my car, and I heard the door open in the background.
"Riley!" She yells with a crack in her voice from crying.
It hurt so much to walk away and drive off. How can in just a moment we were happy and kissing, then turn to heart ache.
