HAILEY'S POV

'Hey, Hailey! I'm sorry but I won't be able to tutor you tonight. Football tryouts! C ya'

That's what Adrian said when I asked him about my tutor session. I wasn't failing anymore and it was all because of that boy.

He made studying fun for me and I hate studying, no matter what subject I'm doing. But I really didn't know he was into football. He never talked about it or that he played. It had been quite long since we knew each other now and I told him almost everything. Well, everything besides my illness.

It had gotten worse, the seizures, and I had an appointment with the doctor today. I told Mom about it as soon as I came home from the diner the other day and she was so scared. She called Dad home immediately and spoke to my doctor.

He told us we needed to come but it was nothing to be worked up about and it could just be a side effect of the surgery I had when I was fourteen.

"Honey, are you ready to go?" Mom came down to the kitchen from her room with a frown on her face.

"Mom, calm down. It's going to be okay," I replied, slightly annoyed.

She always gets so worried about me and never pays attention to herself.

"Yes, dear. But you know what the doctor said! I can't help but be worried," she sighed.

"Let's just get going. Is Dad going to meet us there?"

"Yeah, he just sent me a text saying he's almost there," she replied, collecting her things.

"Okay," I picked up my hoodie and walked out the door with Mom.

"Good evening, Mrs. Waters, Hailey," the doctor nodded curtly and sat down in his chair in front of us. "So you had a seizure?"

"Yeah, I did and my head really hurt," I replied softy with a frown.

"We are going to have a scan now to see if you have another tumor," he said softly. My throat ran dry.

Another tumor?

"Y-yeah, why not," I mumbled and mother's grip tightened around my arm comfortingly.

"She's going to be okay, right?"

"The scan has the answers. Mrs. Waters, can you have Mr. Waters fill out the form and pay the bill outside on the from desk? Hailey and I can move to the scan room," he suggested with a small smile.

"I believe he's doing just that," Mom replied softly. She sounded so nervous.

"Okay, then. Shall we?" He got up and led us outside his room to the scan room right across the hall.

I hadn't told Chel about my seizure and I know my phone's going to be bombarded with texts and voice mails from her.

I sighed and followed the doctor inside the room and laid down on the bed. He put in all the plugs and then smiled down at me.

"It's going to be fine. You probably had one because of too much stress or something. Just be calm, okay?"

I just nodded and shut my eyes.

"I saw the scans and there's a small something growing back inside on one of her main nerves. It wasn't supposed to happen and we're going to have it remove it once it gets a bit bigger. We really can't do anything at this stage but wait. She's immune to the medicines and we can't have any other side effects at this stage," the doctor spoke.

I blinked. "Another one?"

"Yes,"

"Oh no," my mom whimpered and started crying.

"Mom, come on," I got and hugged her tightly, ignoring the constant pricking of tears in my eyes. I blinked them away.

Dad started to talk to the doctor about when the surgery could be done.

I wish I would just die now.

"Are you okay?" Chelsea hugged me as soon as I entered the house. She has been waiting for us since an hour.

"Yes, I'm fine," I smiled. She still looked worried.

"Why don't we go hangout at the movies?" I suggested and she nodded reluctantly.

"Whatever you want," she whimpered and hugged me again.

"Look, Chel, don't behave like I'm going to die now! I'm still alive," I looked at her assuringly.

"Okay, let's go," she smiled softly and pulled me out of the house. Mom and Dad greeted us cheerfully, at least that's what they tried to do, and asked us to be bak early.

Thank god for Chelsea or I would have to be hearing my Mom sobbing the whole day and I can't see her hurt.
