Chapter 8: Down time, we at least sort of

Right now it was Aqualad and me against the monster that took down the whole team. Aqualad was thrown back into me and we both fell barely awake when Batman came in blowing the creature up. "I need to talk to Aqualad the rest of you hit the showers and head home," he demands and I just shrug doing what he said, but I could tell that Dick was pissed that Batman only wanted Aqualad. I get home and take a shower and then head to the gym where Dick was already working on his gymnastics and I just start practicing some basic maneuvers, "Just Aqualad," he grunts to himself and I roll my eyes, I bet one day when he is leader he'll realize how much work it is. He fell back into the wall and then punches it. "Hey what did the wall ever do to you?" I inquire stopping my practice.
        "Master Bruce and Karma wishes to see you two and Kate gear up Karma wants to take you on a mission," informs Alfred as I transform. I fly down to the Bat cave only to be ambushed by a bunch of traps which I deflect and evade. "Nice reflexes but let's see your combat," yells Karma jumping out of the shadows and attacking me. I create a wind blade slicing his cheek a bit forcing him to back off and bingo he is in a shadow which I control, "Shadow prison," I say commanding the shadows to create a cell.
        "Fine I surrender," he huffs and I let him go. "Anyways our mission is to recapture a science lab that has been taken over by some bandits," he said hopping onto his black bike.
        "NO WAY I'M NOT GETTING ON THAT THING!!" I say starting to feel queasy.
        "Are you disobeying an order?" he asks getting real scary.
        "No sir," I groan dragging myself over to my bike, I don't know why I even have it I usually just fly.
        I put on my helmet and get on the bike, "How have you not noticed yet?" he inquires out of the blue."You really don't remember do you?" he repeats.
        "WHAT?!" I shout starting to freak out.
        "You remember that mission you went on to guard the trucks?" he asks and by this point, I was getting annoyed.
        "Spit it out already!" I say pouting.
        "You never got sick and you were riding a bike," he smiles and the realization hit me like an elbow in the face (if you get this reference from one of my other fan fictions I applaud you.) "Why?!" I question.
        "I tried something; I put some ginger in your tea after I healed your leg," he grins.
        "GINGER THAT'S ALL IT TOOK?!" I scream.
        "Yes now let's get going," he insists opening the Bat cave door.
        "Wait I need Ginger!!" I say flying after him ditching the bike. He ignores me for the rest of the trip and we finally made it to the lab by the time the moon was in the middle of the sky. "Here's the plan, you fly to the other side and start taking them down and I'll start here and we'll meet in the middle, watch out for hostages because there might still be scientists that didn't make it out," he whispers getting some kunai out and signaling for me to go. I silently fly overhead and land at the other entrance kicking two guards as I land. "Shadow scythe," I whisper running down the hall and throwing guards into the walls and knocking them out cold. I was doing fine and actually beat Karma to the meeting point. I sat there waiting for him but it felt like forever until I got bored and decide to go find him.
        I walk down the halls my boots clicking and I transformed out of my wings because they have no current use. I start swinging my scythe as I head farther and farther into the base but I stop when I hear voices up ahead. "Shadow teleport," I whisper as I become one with the shadows. I get closer and now I can hear whoever is talking, "Tie him up he makes the perfect bait," hisses a women. I get closer.
        "Where is she?!" another voice hisses. I'm so close now that I can the back of their heads. I take a closer look at what there were surrounding; Karma. He was tied up with a scowl on his face, the women turns around to reveal the face of my mother. I hold back my rage and listen on; "She shouldn't be hard to take down because we poisoned her before she ran away," sneers my brother Zeke. My fists clench as Karma spoke up.
        "You're not going to catch her because as I told you I'm here alone and she is far away and safe," he insists looking directly at me.
        "Yeah right, like that little tramp won't come and save her beloved master," replies my mother kicking Karma in the face.
        "You know everyone I know has a grudge against you since you left the Fang family and joined the Justice League," huffs Zeke teasing Karma.
        "I left for a reason and I see my niece is following my footsteps," he smiles with bloody teeth. Wait, niece? Does that mean he is my...uncle? I think to myself holding back tears. I grab my scythe harder and get ready to attack when Karma stops me with his powers. "Say, brother, what has that tramp become? Has she become so powerful that my plans may succeed? Has she unlocked,-" she was cut off by Karma tripping her and that's when I sprang into action slicing a bit of Zeke's hoodie but he counters knocking me back. "Karma you backstabber," hisses my mother as I threw senbon at her.
        "I thought I was a backstabber fourteen years ago when you,-" he was cut off by me tackling him because Zeke sent a dark wave of flames.
        "Karma focus," I say slicing the ropes.
        "We'll meet again," hisses my mother running away with Zeke closely behind.
        "What was that? How come you didn't tell me that you were related to me? How old are you? What were they talking about? What happened fourteen years ago?" I burst out and Karma just walks away ignoring my questions. I grab my scythe and run after him, "Hey answer me!" I yell catching up with him only to have him turn into a cloud of smoke and disappear. "KARMA!" I yell falling to my knees and changing back. What can't I know anything?! I ask myself as the tears started to flow, to be truthful I don't know why I was crying. I get up and start walking to the nearest zeta tube which was a few miles away at most, thoughts filling my head.
        I get to the zeta tube and head over to mount justice where everyone was asleep but Tornado, "Why are you up and about so late?" he asks.
        "I was on a job and felt like coming to the cave for the night," I say lying through my teeth as I head for my room.
        "I shall inform Batman and Robin," he said walking away. I flop down on my bed and look up at the ceiling who am I really?
