Wally was currently howling in an attempt to get Wolf to howl. "Wally stop before I make you," I hiss not bothering to look up from my book. "Yeah stop torturing him," adds Conner.
"Hold still please," insists Megan wrapping Conner up.
"Stop torturing him, Megan awkward for him being the third wheel on our date anyway," mocks Wally.
"Wally I invited the entire team to the dance, Zatanna too," explains Megan as I just listen on. I wasn't going to the dance because one I have never dressed up for Halloween before, in fact, I have never even celebrated Halloween so I'm just staying in tonight in my PJs. I was deep in thought and didn't realize Captain Marvel who came in with the worst makeup ever. Artemis and Zatanna walk in, "oh hey Zatanna you look great," complements Artemis.
"Oh, thanks! You look great too," she replies.
"Oh look zombie Captain Marvel that's hilarious, is the Justice League having a party because my dad didn't mention it," mentions Zatanna.
"No no no no I- fine I'm going trick-or-treating," he said moodily flying off. "And I'm not sharing my candy," he pouts before he left and I just roll my eyes at his immaturity.
"When are you getting dressed, Kate? And what are you going to be? Sexy nurse, sexy vampire, sexy werewolf?" asks Wally in a flirtatious tone.
"I'm staying in tonight and besides you just added sexy in front of every costume you suggested," I yawn getting up and walking over to Zatanna and Artemis. "So how long have Megan and Conner been a couple?" asks Zatanna as I join the conversation. "Couple? No, they're not a..." Artemis starts laughing but then looks over to Megan who was giggling and stops. As she starts to stomp away I follow bored of Megan's and Conner's flirting and Wally who couldn't take a hint if it slapped him in the face. "I'm sorry it seemed so obvious..." trails Zatanna feeling bad.
"What about that party you were going to?" I ask still in my bunny slippers.
"Not in the mood and sitting at home with my mom doesn't sound appealing either..." she trails off in thought.
"I have an idea," said Zatanna who performs a spell and I was changed into the Scarlet Phoenix. "Girls night out," she hints and my face lit up, this was going to be fun because all I was going to do was eat some ice cream and then go hang out with Alfred but now that I think about it that sounds boring as hell.
They try to get me on a motorcycle but I insist that I fly, "mindsight," I say out loud thinking of Wally and I see him, Conner and Megan at a party where everyone was dressed as a superhero, Conner looks so done with life. "Mindsight," I say again and look for Dick to find him in a room with Batman, Karma, RT, Aqualad and Red Arrow. "I have concerns about Kate because of the attack the other night, her sister showed up and attacked her and then left when we came around and she would not talk about it," informs Batman.
"I am concerned as well after therapy with Carnary she has been more closed and my sister is very stubborn," adds Karma. I could not believe what I was hearing! Dick, Bruce and Karma don't have faith in me?! I come back to reality when I slam into a wall.
"KATE ARE YOU OKAY?!" screams Artemis coming over as I stood up wobblily.
"Yeah, I'm fine just got distracted," I lie.
"Anyway whatever happened here is over I want some action," hisses Artemis who was clearly pissed over the whole Megan and Conner thing. "But maybe you need to talk about Conner and Megan and whatever," suggests Zatanna as my focus came back. "What I need is something to beat up," grunts Artemis as she drove off.
"Root binder," I say trapping a guy as I flew by that was trying to rob some people. I had this strange feeling that someone was watching us, OH CRAP DOES KARMA HAVE MINDSIGHT? I screamed in my head looking around frantically as Artemis shoot some bank robbers. We went over to the park and Artemis totally beat up a bunch of dudes. She's scary, I gulp to myself getting shivers.
"There were easier ways to take them," I mention as we walk back, me keeping my distance just in case she blows up or something. "They had it coming no harm done-" she was cut off by me.
"ICE BARRIER!" I scream blocking them both from the explosion that came from their bikes.
"No indeed harm is not done, much harm left to do," said a creepy guy walking through the fire haze.
"The if's cannot escape harm," he said failing to speak proper English but I can't really judge because I struggle with English and it's the only language I know. "Escaping isn't on the menu," sasses Artemis shooting the weirdo.
"The arrow does not impress," he smirks.
"Fine," said Zatanna lighting his sword on fire.
"Neither does its magic both must do better or suffer Harm," he said.
"You suffer harm, I call upon Kaen the phoenix of the Fangs," I say the last part a bit quieter.
"Finally you haven't called me in like forever," he smile landing on my shoulder.
"Y-you have a pet phoenix?!" stammers Artemis.
"Yeah, why do you think they call me the scarlet phoenix?" I ask. The only reason I never really call him is because he's kind of....wacko... I think to myself turning my attention back to the sword wielder. He went on and figured out our mentors, which isn't hard to do when Zatanna is using Latin magic, Artemis has green arrows and a bow and I have already used like three elements tonight and I give off that whole assassin vibe. "Harm will study these three to learn killing methods to kill their mentors," he said raising his sword. Most of the time Karma just annoys the enemy to death so this guy doesn't stand a chance, I think sweat dropping.
"Oh you did not just threaten my dad," said Zatanna trying to get rid of the sword.
"It wants Harm's sword very well," he said almost beheading her.
"Oh you did not just do that gurl she is going to whip your ass!" shouts Kaen.
"And now I remember why I never summon you, you have a personality disorder," I groan.
"You know that is very illogical and I command you take that statement back," he insists in a scientific voice.
"Big mistake Harmster," yells Artemis sending arrows his way but he threw them back.
"Air sphere," I say containing the blast.
"I'm so proud of you honey! Let me take a picture of this memorable moment," smiles Kaen bringing a camera out. "YOU'RE NOT MY MOM! Fog water," I say covering Artemis and Zatanna while we all ran into an alley. We follow this strange girl and I flew them up onto the roof where she was. "Thank you so much dear would you like a cookie?" asks Kaen who was wearing a grandma wig.
"Ignore everything that he says, thanks for the assist what's your name?" I question ignoring the cookies that Kaen was trying to force down my throat. "Secret," she answers.
"That won't cut it, we need answers. Do you know Harm? Does he have any weaknesses?" rushes Artemis.
"Secret," she replies pointing at Harm who caught up to us. Artemis shoot a water tower,
"frozen splash," I say freezing him but he just broke out.
"Where's little miss secret?" asks Artemis as Zatanna changes boots and I flew them over to the other roof. We land and dodge a beam of whatever he was shooting but a knife cut Artemis's bow. "Hold on while I restring," she said and Zatanna got kicked back. "Flame fist," I yell punching him straight in the jaw only to have my fist held and then get thrown back into Zatanna. "You want to play without the toys?" she asks as he had her by the sword and she had him by the crossbow.
"It tries to bait Harm, leave Harm weak but Harm has no weakness," he said in third person taking his clothes off like Gray but way less attractively. Artemis put her crossbow away and got into a fighting stance as well. "You got this Mr. Harm can I please have your autograph after?!" squeals Kaen like a freeking fangirl.
"Who's side are you on?" I ask glaring at him.
"Please sweetie I know a hot guy when I see him," he puffs and I face palm and look at the unattended sword that was just standing there. I signal Zatanna over as Artemis distracts and we both grab the sword and pull but end up getting electrocuted and then Artemis gets distracted and gets punched.
"And it cares about others another weakness, the sword rejected its impure heart it has not made the sacrifices that Harm has to become pure," he said as I caught my breath.
"Cmon get back in the fight your not done until I say so," chants Kaen.
"Why do I still have you around?" I groan mostly to myself as I notice the same little girl from before.
"Secret hasn't led us wrong so far," said Zatanna and Artemis through an arrow while I grab them both and teleport them over to the mysterious little girl named Secret. We get over there, "she's gone!" I huff wobbling a bit.
"Take it easy you have used a lot of your powers tonight," chirps Kaen being normal for once in his life.
"Because if you die before handing me down to your children I will disappear," he adds and I depan.
"WATCH OUT!" I yell pushing them both to the side and using a lightning shield.
"This can be no coincidence, they are on Harm's very roof, how did they know? Tell Harm right now!" he demands. "Wait this is your place?" defends Artemis.
"No more games!" he shout stabbing his sword down and I didn't have time to dodge or send the electricity anywhere. "Kaen do something you stupid bird," I cough.
"I will help with some dance," he said moon walking and then my world went dark. I awake to Zatanna dumping water on me and Kaen yodeling away in his cage. I grab the retarded bird and fly down the hall with the other two. "Wait-" "Zatanna she's his partner," retorts Artemis.
"Then why did she help us?" she questions.
"I don't know secret," I say pushing them down the stairs to avoid the beam. We run through the house and turn on the gas in the kitchen blowing up half the house.
We end up outside by a grave where a ghost pops out. I jump back and almost throw a bunch of kunai in her face but Kaen stops me. "This is your grave, this is your secret, this is you," realizes Zatanna and the ghost nods grimly.
"I feel like Scooby doo," said Kaen ruining the moment.
"I'm sorry but how did you die?" I ask and she creats a picture of Harm's dagger.
"It defiled Harm's holy place," he accuses.
"We did no such things you did it to your own sister you're sick," I shout thinking of Nia, well the Nia I knew.
"You have gull to her beloved," adds Artemis.
"Not gull, truth, she was the only thing Harm ever loved that's why she had to go. Harm's heart had to be pure Greta had to be cut out excised like an infection. Ah another illusion spell," he said as the ghost Greta shows up.
"Except I didn't speak Harm knows it can't cast a spell without speaking," smiles Zatanna as Greta walks towards Harm. "You asked how we found this place? Face it Harm your secrets out," I say as Kaen pecks my head.
"Harm's heart is pure, I'm not sorry, I'm not!" he shouts attempting to stab Greta but she ends up grabbing something from his chest. His own sword attacks him and Artemis knocked his other one away. "So unfocused can fight us while fighting its self," mocks Artemis beating him at his own game while knocking him out and then Zatanna tied him up. "We'll make sure you have a proper burial, we wouldn't forget you, Greta," I say turning to the little girl.
"Secret," is the last thing she said before sinking back down into her grave.
"I still can't believe anyone would do that to their sister," I snarl.
"Yeah, my,-" Artemis stops herself.
"My what? Artemis talk to us, secrets don't stay buried obviously it's better to bring them into the light," reasons Zatanna.
"I don't have any secrets, cops are coming," she said as sirens filled the night air.
"We did blow up the kitchen," sighes Zatanna.
"Kate, Zatanna look, it must be the last thing Greta ever saw," she said and we all looked at a sign across the street that read 'secret'. "So are we trick-or-treating or what?" asks Kaen.
"That's it go home," I say snapping my fingers as he stuck his tongue out at me. Rest in peace Greta Hays.
