Chapter 11: Wild

Everyone was fixing up the mountain giving me a killer headache not to mention no one was telling us anything and I was ready to kill someone and considering my background I don't think anyone would be surprised. "Thanks but no thanks," groans Kid Flash turning down food which was a first. "Yea we want answers about Red Tornado and his family," demands Dick standing up.
        "Exactly....leave the bowl," agrees Wally taking the pretzels back and shoving his face. I was about to fall asleep when Conner started yelling.
        "YOU KNEW?! THAT ANDROID AND HIS FAMILY ALMOST KILLED MEGAN!!!" he yells totally pissed while clutching Aqualad's shirt.
        "Conner what are you doing?" voices Megan flying over.
        "Kaldur knew we had a traitor among us and said nothing," hollers Conner.
        "You knew?" accuses Dick. Everyone starts yelling at each other and I zone out to think, there is no way he would hold information like that without a really good reason. Information like that would have made the team lose trust in each other and then we would all fall apart leaving us all to think that one of us was a killer or something. They are yelling now but what would they do in his shoes? I think to myself as Batman silences everyone.
          "Enough, with Red Tornado missing the team will now be overseen by rotation supervisors. Captain Marvel has volunteered to take the first shift," spoke Bruce in his normal boring monotone voice.
        "I will have fun hanging with you guys," he said like a ten-year-old.
        "After I dismantle Red Tornado I'm going,-" Conner was cut off from his not really whispering conversation.
        "Red Tornado is a member of the Justice League, that makes him a league responsibility you will leave him to us," said Batman. Really if you tell a group of super powered-teenagers to not do something they are totally going to do it, I think to myself as Karma gives me the look of death and I have second thoughts. "I have another assignment for this team, he said pulling up a news report.
        "Gotham Mayor attacked by Gorilla Gorilla?" reads Kid Flash.
        "Was this the only thing he could find to distract us?" questions Superboy.
        "Batman please don't tell me you are sending us in this joke of a wild ape chase," begs Dick.
         "I never joke about a mission," he said giving Dick the cold shoulder.
        "Scary," I hiss under my breath so only my teammates can hear.
        "I've checked the sources and studied the patterns and the mayor is only the latest in a series of incidents. Aqualad you and your team will depart for India and check this out" commands Batman.
        "Your team as if," scoffs Wally.
        "Hey just so you know I think you did what you did with good intentions and I would do the same in your shoes, so just let them vent," I say tapping him on the shoulder.
        "Thanks, Kate," he replies with a faint smile.
        "Now I've sucked up to you please don't force me to ride in that thing," I beg anime crying as Captain Marvel drags me over to the bio-ship. The trip was long a treacherous and when we land it felt like we landed in heaven. I get out and kiss the ground while switching to stealth and catching my balance. I lean on Artemis and listen, "ok switch to stealth and we'll go over mission perimeters," commands Aqualad.
        "We don't need no mission perimeters," snarls Kid Flash.
        "It's recon we know what to do," joins Dick.
        "Kid Robin," starts Aqualad.
        "The four of us started this team because he League was keeping secrets from us, and whose side are you on Kate?" asks Robin and his words held truth but I was not picking sides. "Yea did you forget that, like you forgot about the mole?" joins Kid as they both took off.
        "Stop trying to protect us just like Aqualad," hisses Artemis to Superboy.
        "Come on Kate we're going this way," said Megan picking me up and before I could protest my motion sickness kicked in leaving me to be dragged by the girls.
         I jump back into action when an alligator attacks Megan, "fire missile," I yell getting it off Megan when Artemis was attacked, "water twister," I yell holding the alligator still while Megan releases the strap. I toss the alligator up while Megan clears the water for Artemis. "Okay nearly drowning two nights in a row is not as fun as it sounds," she states coughing up water.
        "Aqualad can you hear me?" questions Megan through the mind link.
        "Yes Miss Martian report," he commands.
        "Artemis, Phoenix and myself were attacked by animals wearing inhibitor collars like the ones used on convicts at Belle Reve prison," she reports and I strip the alligators of their collars.
        "Miss Martian I need a mind link between the whole team now," insists Aqualad.
        "Link established,-" she was cut off by Dick.
        "Should you really be giving orders and should you even follow them?" asks Artemis.
        "Listen please,-" he begs.
        "Oh good Aqualad's voice is in my head, so missed that," sasses Wally.
        "Kaldur Kf and I were attacked by giant vultures but of course, since you think we're moles we probably attacked ourselves," said Robin sarcastically.
        "If he did he wouldn't tell you," replies Artemis.
        "Superboy are you online or just pouting?" asks Megan.
        "Busy call back later," he says.
        "What gets me is how he's so nonchalant about not telling us," adds Wally.
        "ENOUGH, we're a team and teams don't fight," I yell having a breakdown.
        "She is correct, now Captain Marvel has been captured and we have to work as a team to save him," relays Aqualad.
        "Under your leadershi-," Wally was cut off.
        "This is not up for debate, you all chose me to lead this team and when this mission is over and you wish to choose a new leader you may do so, I will happily step down but until that time I am in command," he said totally taking charge.
         We actually start to work together breaking the force field and everything was going well until a monkey starts screeching and the next thing I knew we were being attacked. "Don't hurt them, they are being controlled," I say taking off a collar. "Wind slice," I say taking out two that were on top of Robin. We finally make a hole in the wall to see the Brain which Wally pulls a captain obvious by pointing out. "I can see it's a brain," sighs Artemis.
        "Not the brain it's the Brain," he replies. A field traps us and then Megan shut it off while Superboy bust thru the wall with a giant white wolf, you know the usual. Megan picks up the giant monkey and I electrocuted it while Superboy attempts to punch it. "Fire blossom," I say hitting him again. We all surround the monkey, "shadow scythe," I say summoning my favorite weapon.
         "Try it I hate monkeys," said Conner cracking his knuckles.
        "Get down," I yell creating a giant earth shield but only the lights turn off and nothing else.
        "Wait that huge scary weapon thing was a light switch?" I ask releasing the shield as we start to walk back to the death ship.
        "What are you grinning about?" questions Artemis.
        "One-word souvenir," Wally replies putting a hat on that he got from a monkey earlier.
        "Two words gorilla lice," she sighs walking away and Wally threw off the hat fast. "Well he needs a name," said Wally referring to the giant white wolf that Conner decided to keep. "What about Crypto?" I suggest joining the conversation.         "What's with you and horrible names first Superbuddies and now this?" Jokes Wally.
        "Why did you keep the information a secret?" asks Dick attracting everyone's attention.
        "Because the source of the tip was Sportsmaster," he sighs.
        "What you can't trust him!" accuses Artemis.
        "I do not, it was likely he was just trying to divide the team with false information," he voices.
        "And based on how this mission went he almost succeed, and you also had to consider it to be true," realizes Dick.
        "Yes, I had to as leader of this team, in which case I did not wish to alert the traitor. I am prepared to step down as leader," he presumes.
        "I knew it! All in favor of keeping the team as is raise your hand," I say and everyone raised their hand. "This is way better," I say starting to cry tears of joy and went around hugging everyone.
        "You're getting way too emotional," laughs Aqualad patting me on the head as we got on the ship and I tried to get off but Wally was faster and tied me to the seat. "On second thought this is not better we need a better way to travel," I cry as we took off.
