Third Person

A late morning glow falls over a still sleeping Tiffany: warming her skin and making her melanin glow bright like the sun itself.

Half of the bed lies empty with messy sheets and a dent in the pillow. Something white lies on the empty pillow. A note from Zayn which reads: Good morning, Kitten. I'm training some Etas. I won't be home for awhile. My credit card and the box of car keys are in the living room. Go to the city if you'd like. Have fun and please be safe. I love you and I'll see you soon, baby girl.

Outside a child squeals playfully. The sound falls on Tiffany sleeping ears slowly and does not wake her, but it does thrust her into a nightmare. The the demons within her brain change the squeal into a scream, her own scream.

Scenes from the cellar of the Caper's basement fill her head and she beings tossing and turning in her sleep. Her heart rate spikes dramatically and a slick sheen of sweat coats her body. She starts panting and her heart beats much faster. Then she screamed out loud and shot up so quickly she gave herself whiplash.

She jumped; scanning the room realizing she was not in the Capers' basement, but safe in her own home. For awhile she curled up into a ball and sobbed and wishing she had enough energy to will herself to get a bottle of whiskey from Zayn's office.

Then she reaches one hand up to get her phone.

Tiffany's Point of View

"Elizabeth, please I need to get outside or I will cry in this bed all day until Zayn returns. Please come out to the city with me!" My voice is thick with tears and sleep. "Please."

"Of course, Tiff. Come get me in thirty minutes."

"Luna..oh thank you! I really need this."

Elizabeth paused for a moment. "And Tiffany please do both of us a favour and try to not drink."

Then I take a moment to respond. My body yearned for the sweet burn of liquor down my throat. "I'll try, Liz."

"Thanks. I love you. See you in a bit, Tiff."

"Love you too. See ya."

Then the line goes dead and slip out of bed slowly. My bones pop and crack as if I were an old robot that has not moved in years.

The white carpeting felt soft beneath my sock covered feet as I padded into the bathroom.

I caught a glimpse of myself in the mirror on my way to the bathroom. My face was a raw purplish hue, still stained by ugly tears; oh but my hair was absolutely amazing. My hair had lost the curls I burned into the locks, yet it was even more beautiful than before. It was wild and full like a lions mane. I looked like I should be wearing black from head to toe with my my fist balled high above my head. I could straighten my hair, but chose not to.

Instead of the bath I choose the shower, the steam would help my hair curl up more.

After my shower, I did my makeup and dressed down; in black crop top with black jeans and Adidas sneakers.
