Corbyn Besson's P.O.V.

I walked into the cafeteria, immediately hating how loud it was. I sat alone in a booth, taking out the homemade Chinese food that I made last night. I started to eat, keeping my gaze down.

"Excuse me, may we sit here?" A voice asked. I looked up and saw a girl with blonde hair along with a girl with brownish hair. I just nod timidly, my voice getting lost. I just kept quiet, keeping my head down as I ate my Chinese meal.

"Hey." One of them called. I looked up, seeing the blonde from earlier. She smiled, "What's your name?"

"Corbyn..." I said, shyly.

"Corbyn...?" She said, as if waiting for me to finish my name.

"Besson."

"Corbyn Besson." She said, smiling, "Well, I'm Samantha Johnson. You can call me Sam or Sammy. This is Soleia Livingston."

I just nod, making Samantha raise a brow, "Dude, you gotta learn how to chill."

"What do you mean?" I asked.

"I mean, you gotta enjoy yourself. Talk more." She answered. I just shrugged, "I'm just shy. People think I'm weird because I'm so smart. That's why I don't have any friends."

"Well, you got two now." She answered, smiling. I just smiled back. We talked more and more, getting to know each other. I finally feel like I belong. She makes me feel like everything will be alright. I then saw the guys who bullied me last year. Out of instinct, I hid my head behind my backpack.

"Corbyn, what are you doing?" Sam asked.

"Nothing. I'm fine." I said. One of them caught sight of me, Jim immediately calling his friends, then they began to walk over. Fear sparked inside of me. I feel them staring holes through my head, "Well, well. If it isn't little Besson."

I stayed quiet, wanting to avoid fights.

"Hey. Look at us when we're talking to you." One of them ordered. I'm sick of this. I stood up and punched him, straight at his nose. He fell down. Two of his friends look at me, "So the nerd's fighting back."

"Alright. I had enough of this." Sam stood up, looking at the two, "Leave him alone."

I stood behind her as the two boys smirked, before laughing, "You? Gonna protect him?"

"Damn, Besson. Are you really that weak? Asking your girlfriend to protect you?" Sam walked to them, their laughter subsiding. She grabbed one of John's wrist, before quickly flipping him over. His back hit the floor with a loud thud. Anthony then looked at Sam, "What the-?" Sam kicked him where the sun doesn't shine, making him kneel while his hands tried to comfort his aching member. Sam grabbed him by the hair, making him groan as he looked up, "I'm gonna give you guys one more chance to live. When I let you go, you guys start running. Make sure that I never see you again. If you guys bully Corbyn one more time, I'll send you to the hospital."

I looked down and Soleia quickly stood up and comforted me. The three guys that used to bully me last year ran for their lives, bustling out the cafeteria doors. Sam then looked at me, smiling, "You don't need to worry about them anymore."

I just nodded, smiling. She then sat down, "Come on. Let's finish eating."

"So, what do you guys like to do?" I asked. Sam looked up at me, surprised. She smiled widely, "So you do speak. Well, I like punching people."

Then the three of us laughed, I then looked at Soleia, waiting for her answer.

"I like to draw." She said.

"What about you, Corbyn?" Sam asked.

"I like to sing... But I'm not that good." I said.

"Says who?" Sam asked.

"Says me."

"Nonsense. I'd like to hear you sing."

"I'll make your ears bleed if you do hear me"

"I still want to hear it." Sam smiled. She placed her forearms on the table and lay her head down, "Please, Corbs?"

"I have a YouTube channel. You can hear it there."

"I want to hear it in person."

I shook my head, "Why?"

She grabbed my hands, "Please Corbsss. Pretty pretty please."

"Ugh, fine." I said. She let go of my hands, "Finally!"

I got nervous. Soleia then spoke, "I'll leave you guys for awhile. I'm just gonna check out some books in the library."

We nodded before Sam looked at me, "I'm not gonna leave until you sing."

I sighed, "Fine."

I then tried to think of a song to sing. I then decided to just choose one of my covers.

"Got a long list of ex-lovers
They'll tell you I'm insane
Cause you know I love the players
And you love the game." I sang. She looked at me in awe, "That was great!"

I hid my face using my hands. She grabbed them, smiling at me, "Don't do that. I swear, you did great."

"No, I didn't." I said. She stood up and sat next to me. "You did great, Corbs. Stop arguing."

I just stare at her. She then looked at me, tilting her head, "Do you really need glasses?"

"Yeah. I'm pretty much blind without them. Why?" She tilted her head a little more before shaking it, "Nothing."

"No. Tell me."

"I don't know. I'm trying to imagine you without glasses. I mean, you're cute and all, you without glasses seems like a different person." She answered, nonchalantly.

"I uh... Have a girlfriend." She laughed. "Chill, dude. I just said you're cute. Not that I like you like that."

"I know you didn't say that." I chuckled.

"So, what's she like?" She asked.

"She's really nice and accepts me for who I am." I said, smiling as I remember her.

"Must be cool, huh?" She muttered. Though the question more likely sounded like she was asking herself instead of me.

After school, I went to work. I work in an aquarium and I have a dolphin show to do. I'm currently the only one with the required training and certifications complete that allow me to do dolphin shows.
