Corbyn Besson's P.O.V.
"Hey, Jack." I said, sitting on the sofa.
"Hey..." He said.
"What's up?" I asked. He quickly explained what happened in school, the girls spreading rumors, the talk with the principal, "Wait, wait, wait! So the principal is your dad?! And your dad abused you?!"
"Yes." Was all he answered. I sat there, processing it all. "Well..."
Jack just sat there. I looked back at Sam, who was just sitting at the counter, before looking back at Jack, "So, how're you and Sam?"
"We haven't talked about the fact that she knows I like her..." Jack said.
"Well... Sam's... I don't know how to say this. But, Sam's, not that good when it comes to relationship and stuffs. Like, it's too complicated for her?" I asked myself at the end.
"I'm just gonna take my time. I don't wanna rush things with her and mess up."
"Good." I said, "Sam... Well, she doesn't really crush on someone that easily. And if she does, she'll just ignore it. But, sometimes, she doesn't even realize she's falling for someone. One day, she'll just realize it."
"Thanks, bro." He said. I patted his back, "No problem. And Jack?"
"Yeah?"
"Don't tell anyone about what happened earlier."
"Don't worry. I won't." He grinned, "Sam, let's go!"
Sam stood up and gave me a forced smile, "See you, tomorrow, Corbs."
Then she left. I felt like I did something wrong as I quickly rushed out the door, "Sam, wait!"
I said as I stopped her from getting in the car. She stopped, taking a deep breath before looking back at me, forcing a smile, "Yeah?"
"Come here."
"Sam, are you gonna be good here?"
"Uh, yeah." She said then walked towards me, "What's up, Corbs?"
I pointed to the couch, "Sit."
She didn't say anything, which was unusual cause usually she'd have a comeback or at least roll her eyes. She sat down quietly, looking down.
"What's wrong?" I asked. She just shrugged, looking somwhere else. I sighed, "Sam..."
"Corbyn, please don't." She sighed.
"Don't what? What am I doing?" I asked, sitting beside her.
"Don't think that you did something bad. Because you didn't. I just... Feel off." She said, looking down as she fiddled with her hands.
"What do you mean by off?" I asked. She bit her lip, "I dont know." Then she turned to me, "What's your mom like?"
I looked at her, confused, "Why do you ask?"
She shrugged, "Just wondering."
"Well, she's loving, and caring, and kind. She doesn't get mad easily, if I'm sick or if one of my siblings is sick, she takes care of us, she encourages me to go for what I want even if she doesn't like it." I said. She just smiled at me as I described my mother to her but I can still see the pain in her eyes. She smiled, looking down, "Lucky."
She stood up, ruffled my hair, "I'm gonna get going, Corbs. Jack's waiting."
"Wait...wait." I said, grabbing her arm gently, "tell me what's wrong. Please. I'm worried about you. I know who your parents are, and I know they aren't home much. But let me help you."
"You only know them by their names, Corbs. And, to be honest, you're the first one to know this." She looked at me and smiled, "They live in another country."
"Why do they live in another country?" I asked, more confused. Why would she live in another country without her parents? And who's she living with?
"Well, we got into an argument. And then, one thing led to another. I told them I don't want them in my life and vice versa. So, they're gave me a house, car and etc. They'll provide for me for as long as I need. Something like that. They don't care about the money they spend on me anyways. They got loads more." She rolled her eyes at the end, then she looked at me, "So, that's that." She shrugged, then smiled at me, "You're really lucky to have a mother that cares for you."
I sighed, "I know you think you don't need your parents, but through thick and thin, they should be there for you no matter what. You have to fix whatever happened between you and your parents. Wouldn't you feel bad if something happened to them and you never fixed the tension between you and them? And I'm sure they would feel the same way if something happened to you. And don't tell me I am wrong because I know I'm right. I got into an argument with my mom and I didn't talk to her for almost an entire week but at the end, finally, I just gave up and broke down crying and apologized. What country do they live in?"
"Beats me." She shrugged her shoulders.
"Then, call them." I said.
"Corbyn." She deadpanned, "They're not like what you think. They care more about their money and career instead of their only daughter. Why'd you think I left?"
"Sam, please. I'll be right here with you. I promise. You just need to talk to them." I said. Out of nowhere, she wrapped her arms around me. Her face buried on my chest as she hugged me tightly. I hugged back, "It's gonna be okay."
"I promise." I added, rubbing her back. She just nod before pulling away.
"I'm gonna get going now. Jack's staying the night."
"Okay. But promise me you'll think about what I said?" I said, putting my hands on her shoulders. She nodded at me, "I promise."
Then she walked out the door, but then opened it again, "Oh, and Corbyn?"
"Yeah? If this is about earlier, please don't tell anyone."
"Lock the door, moron."
I chuckled, "Okay."
