Water Kingdom

#Silena Ladylake#

The shore was buzzing with life. I just watched it all with wandering eyes. Whoever decided to make me Queen has lost his corals.

I wouldn't make a great Queen. The real Queen is already dead.

I stared down at my rippling reflection in the water. The face that reminded me a little too much of the real Queen. Yet, instead of warmth, the sea green eyes stared back at me with sorrow.

A cloud suspiciously shaded the sun, dimming the reflection I dreaded to see. Thunder rolled overhead.

The merpeople around me gasped. "What in Poseidon's trident happened to the forecast? It said, 0.99% chance of rain," a random merfolk remarked.

"Oh piss off! It's winter by the next turn! It's supposed to rain now and then," another blurted.

Oh Poseidon's underpants! I blinked the tears oncoming.
Blast!
"Can't a lady cry in peace?!" I murmured.

I eyed the sky with disdain. Ever since I were claimed, the clouds responded with my emotions. The clouds are made of water after all.

"Someone's upset." A voice so familiar whispered on the shell of her ear.

When I turned, Cenna's blinding sharp, white teeth greeted me with a grin. His blond hair was tousled by the breeze, moss eyes twinkling with mischief. The freckles dotting his straight nose made him much more charming.

I blinked. It took me a few seconds  to push my cousin away.

"A little personal space please! Shoo!" I responded.

"What space? It's alright. We'll be wedded in the future!" He said.

The man is up to no good.

"Please don't fall into Scorpio's womanizing habits," I mocked, playing along.

Seating himself on a nearby rock, he cackled. "So we're stereotyping now, crybaby?"

I laughed. What's with the cackling?

"Piss off," I muttered.

Cenna shrugged. "Look, the sun's up again."

I looked up the sky. Sure enough, the clouds are gone. It was back to its blue cloudless beauty.

I gave him the stink eye.

Cenna grinned. "What?"

No response. His shark teeth glimmered under the sun. What in the...

"Look, if you're worried about the impending wedlock.."

"We're COUSINS!!" I interrupted.

"...just remember I don't swing that way.."

"WHA-"

"Or any way in general. As long as there's a hole and my seahorse. I'm good." He ended with a slight wiggle of his brows.

Why...YOU.. I could feel the blood rushing to my head. There are no words...

He laughed at my expense. I sent a swift wave in return.

The waves crashed, knocking him off the rock, sending him to the waters.

He emerged from the assault, teary-eyed from laughing too much.

"You're blushing!" He exclaimed between bursts of laughter.

"I do not need that information Cenna!" I shouted.
