3 days later

Scouting camp, city of Disyembre.

The frost crunched under my boots.

Winter is almost on us...and Aria isn't around yet.

I stared at a child as he tried his best to ignite a torch. People are getting uneasy. Staring at the gray sky with pinched faces, afraid of what's to come.

"Why don't you rub your fingers, put it in the torch, then blow. It just might work you know," I suggested.

He did as I said. His fire burned brighter than the rest of the kids his age. He grinned at me. I winked then wave goodbye.

I went to the notice board looking for a Fireheart but there's none. The winter solstice will be two days from now. It visits the Kingdom every two decades. It signifies the end of our patron gods..when the fire dies and the world is plunge in cold and darkness. I really didn't like the sound of that.

The Battle was a tradition that dated back eras ago..to choose a leader that will lead us out of the winter solstice.

"Still no Aria?" A voice behind me asked.

It was Scout leader Fireblaze. He stood behind me in full scouting gear.

I shook my head.

He sighed. "That girl never ceases to give me trouble every time." He then handed me a card. An invitation card? I ripped the envelope. Inside was a note for an emergency conference.

"What's this got to do with me?"

He raised a brow.

"Sir," I added as an afterthought.

"Go attend that meeting and be useful. I'm going to look for Aria.. so do your best!" He didn't wait for my answer and left.

I stared at the note. I hate formal meetings.

I sat next to my brother. Inside the meeting hall was the three Hydro folks and us. No Pyro nor Aero in sight.

Dear brother was grumbling under his breath. Perhaps about the work he left behind.

Silena sat next to me. "This better be important."

I shrugged, my mind off things. My wooden chair is already sprouting vines all over me. It happens, happens a lot.

The door to the meeting hall opened. He appeared, dressed in his gear over a black coat. His ginger hair swept to the side, looking as charming as I last saw him.

The vines, which was all over me, already went all over the place. Silena yelped and my brother made a disapproving sound. His hazel eyes traveled to me and he smiled.

"Hey," he waved.

"Uhh.. Hi!" I stuttered.

Silena elbowed me hard on the ribs. I winced. He's handsome, alright. He had that unkempt ginger hair, hazel eyes, aquiline nose, and lips that has that lasting smirk...like he's amused all the time. His crossbow was strapped to his back. He looked so much like a hunter next door.

He touched the vines and it bursted into flames.

Cenna extinguished the flames with his trident, murmuring under his breath.

"Still sprouting vines?" He asked, a small smile on his lips.

I chuckled nervously. "It happens, happens a lot."
