Air Kingdom

"I'm bored," I muttered to myself.
I was flitting over the air like a mad man. Maybe I am mad. Being bored makes a man go mad.
"What are we doing here again?" I asked the guy next to me.
"Were to look for something amiss in here," he said.
"Like what?" I asked.
"The Aether. We're to protect the Aether," he replied.
The Aether? That caught my attention.
"The Aether? The barrier that's supposed to separate the human world and the Zodiacs? That Aether?"
He rolled his eyes. "Yes, now shut up."
I did another flip. "But how can we watch something that is meant to be invisible. That's absurd!"
The other mutable sighed. "You know I've asked the same questions. But the folks here are too busy flitting by to give any answers. As much as it hurts to say it, I'm going to say, no, I don't know what in Gemini's two faces are we doing here!"
I laughed. "Then we're just killing time here! That's cool!"
No reply.
I looked at the horizon instead. The world was shrunk. Everything is soo minute. Mt. Olympus was sitting there like a dwarf's hill and Oktubre sitting atop it like miniature bricks.
Far right, I could see the Thawing region of Febrari, glittering like diamonds. Gods, I hate that place.
Far left was the summery fields of Jun, the sun casting its rays on it like a spotlight. Now that's a place!I sighed. Ugh. So bored.. I spun a little hurricane in my hand.
I let it go. "Fly little thing! Be free!"
Someone snickered behind me. I don't care. In the end we're still bored mutables stuck in here.
My little hurricane hit something. But all I saw was the endless sky. It stuck and spun for a while before it dispersed. The air dispersed slowly and I saw an outline. An outline of something invisible.
What the..!
The Aether? Well I'll be damned!
"Did you see that?"The boy next to me glanced back. "See what?"
I didn't say anything, just flew forward, following the path of my hurricane, with my hands groping in front of me.
"You look ridiculous, you know that?"
I groped further until I touched it. It rippled under my touch. It's nauseating. The air seemed to ripple with the barrier too.
I followed the outline. Left then right. It rippled as far as I can see.
I heard shouts behind me.
"Holy schist!" I withdrew my hand and fluttered back. Too overwhelmed with what I've seen.
I glanced again, this time the Aether was already crystal clear in front of me. Like glass, but no. It was Mist, the magical mist that holds all magic in place. It steamed and looked ready to swallow me and my mortal awesomeness. And hell if that doesn't make me shit in my pants.
"Do it again!" Someone shouts at me.
I knocked him to the side, my wind sending him backwards.
"Shut it. Give me time to think, will you?"I closed my eyes, counted to three before opening them again. It was still there.
"Oh my gods!"I cannot unsee it. It's just like me and my brother bathing in the rain, naked, I cannot unsee it or reverse it.
