Chapter 11
‘We’re getting pretty close to shore. We should all change now before people start to see us.” I said, looking only at Pierce and Brooke. They nodded, so we each moved a small distance away for privacy reasons. After I changed my tail into legs and put on my bikini, I turned around to see that everyone else had done the same.
“Let’s stay above water from this point on. Oh and guys, when we get close to shore we always head straight for a pier so we can dry off and everything.” I said while fixing my bikini top. I looked up to see Tyson’s eyes move away quickly. I smirked; it looked like I had something I could use over him after all.
As we swam towards shore, I wondered what kind of house our families had gotten for us. All I really knew about it was that it’s pretty close to the ocean, and that it had a pool. Hopefully it was already furnished so we didn’t have to go shopping today. Swimming for hours is tiring and I was ready to relax.
Finally we reached the pier and swam up under it to dry off and make ourselves more presentable to the human world. Thankfully it hid us completely from the humans since it would be pretty weird for two guys to come out of the ocean carrying duffel bags. Like the last time Brooke and I had come to the mainland, we concentrated on drying ourselves off. After brushing out our hair and putting on shorts and tanks to cover our bathing suits, we checked on the guys.
Pierce and Tyson both looked great with their swim trunks and wife-beaters on. After they dried their hair, it looked windblown and hot. I started to blush, and hid it by searching in my bag for a pair of flip-flops. After slipping them on, I noticed that the others had all done the same.
“So are you guys ready to go find our new house?” I asked, pulling out the paper with the house’s address on it. “Should we walk and try to find it or what?”
“I say we get a taxi. We have plenty of cash and that way we’ll get to the right place for sure. I don’t want to get lost.” Brooke said as we walked out from under the pier.
“Agreed. Mainly because I’m really ready to sit down.” Pierce said with a grin and a laugh.
“Sounds good to me. Let’s go get a cab.”
A few minutes later the four of us were seated in a cab and on our way to our new home. I had given the cabby the address, while his eyes widened, he said he knew the place. The ride was almost silent with Brooke and Pierce even staying quiet as well. It seemed that we all had a lot on our minds.
I was thinking that I really did need to talk to Tyson. We needed to talk about all of this going on. We especially needed to talk about whatever I did to make him mad this morning. If it really was something I did then I needed to apologize whether I wanted to or not.
The cab driver interrupted my thoughts as he stopped at the end of a driveway partially hidden by palm trees. As he pulled down the drive, I couldn’t help but get excited. Our home was right there! Suddenly the trees gave way to a view of the home.
When my father had said that it was a large house, he wasn’t kidding. It looked like someone rich and famous lived there. It was a huge three story house with white siding and a huge porch. The yard was perfectly manicured with a large fountain and ironically a statue of a mermaid. The whole effect was beautiful.
As the cab pulled up to the circle drive in front of the house, I gave money to the driver and we all got out. Brooke was the first one to the door with the rest of us close behind her. She pulled out her house key, since we had each been given one, and opened the door. As we stepped inside, my eyes widened. I could see the living room and kitchen from where we stood. Both were very well-furnished.
