Chapter 16
I sat beside the door for about 15 minutes, yelling at Tyson. He knew how hungry I was, and by then he had to at least somewhat know my personality. He had to have been expecting me to yell at him like that. So I didn't understand how he thought he would have "time to think."
My stomach growled again loudly. In my mind, I knew that I wasn't going to starve or anything. But my stomach didn't know that.
"Tyson, I swear, you better get your thinking finished real quick," I yelled one last time at the top of my lungs, pulling myself up from the floor.
I didn't know what to do, so I started pacing back and forth. Back and forth. Across the room. Back across the room. Around the bed. Into the bathroom. Into the closet. Every now and then I would stop at Tyson's door and give it a good pounding so he knew I was still mad. Of course, this didn't elicit any kind of reaction.
Finally, I got sick of pacing and went into the bathroom to sit on the floor with my back against the door. I had shorts on, and the cool blue tiles felt good against my skin. It calmed me, but not as much as a good swim would have. But I knew that I wouldn't be getting a good swim anytime soon, not unless I jumped off of my balcony at least. Honestly though, that was NOT something I wanted to do under any circumstances.
I sat there for about twenty minutes before I heard the door open. My growling stomach had calmed some, and I was in no hurry to move from my comfortable position. Plus, I had decided that Tyson needed to come to me to apologize. I wasn't the one who freaked out and ran away after all.
After a minute or so, there was a soft knock on the bathroom door. Another minute later, I heard Tyson's voice talking to me from the other side of the door.
"Marina?" he asked hesitantly. "I know you're in there." Duh. The only other place I could hide would be my closet, and I had left the door to it wide open so it was obvious I wasn't in there. "Listen, I'm sorry I left you like that. It was stupid of me. I didn't like that you forced me to realize I was being an idiot, and a jerk. Do you think we can actually be friends?" he asked, sounding almost hesitant. "I know you've already offered, but I thought you might have taken it back because of the way I acted."
I said nothing for another minute, just thinking. I heard Tyson breathing on the other side of the door, and I heard and felt him lay his head against the door.
"If it helps, I brought a peace offering," Tyson said softly, and I stood up.
"What is it?" I asked, and Tyson chuckled softly.
"Well let me in and I'll show you," he said. I frowned and shook my head even though I knew he couldn't see me.
"How do I know you're not just saying that to make me open the door?" I asked suspiciously.
"Why would I do that? I'm already in hot water, and it wouldn't help me get on your good side," he told me with a small laugh.
"That's true," I said with another frown. "I guess I'll open it. But if you're lying to me, we're going to have an even bigger problem. Got it?"
"Of course Princess," Tyson said, and I could practically hear the smirk in his voice. I sighed and opened the door, taking a step back as I did.
Tyson was in the doorway, and I grinned when I realized that his peace offering was the microwave that he was holding in his arms. He walked over and sat it on my bathroom counter, as far from the sink as he could get it.
"Truce?" he asked, holding his hand out for me to shake it.
"Truce," I agreed, taking his hand and shaking it. As we shook, we heard the thump of a door shutting.
