Chapter 12

I spent the next hour unpacking my bag and setting the room up where I wanted it.  After I finished, I silently opened the door to the hallway and peeked my head out.  After seeing nobody, I raced across the hall to Brooke’s room.  Once I was inside, I shut the door quickly.  I didn’t want Tyson to know that I had to go talk to Brooke about him and all of this.

Since that door between our rooms was there, my father must have decided that I needed to have the lock on my side.  I’m sure that it was so that Tyson couldn’t just walk into my room without my permission.  I am a girl after all, he could take advantage of me even though we are due to be married.  Of course, it worked out for me.  I was able to lock the door, so if he tries it he’ll think I’m mad at him.  He’ll never guess that I’m actually not in the room.

When I shut the door, Brooke spun around to look at me.  She looked obviously surprised that I was there, but at the same time it looked like she guessed that it would happen.  She smiled at me and sat down on the bed, motioning for me to do the same.  I gladly followed her example, sinking down into the mattress happily.

I took a moment to look around the room, noticing that it was set up almost exactly like mine.  Her colors were shades of black and grey, so that everything wouldn’t clash with her hair.  There were also touches of orange everywhere to tie in with her tail.  I also saw that she had an extra door as well.

“Please tell me that door doesn’t lead to Pierce’s room.”  I said slowly, pointing at it.

“Yeah it does, how did you know?”  Brooke asked with a raised eyebrow.  I fell backwards onto the bed and groaned.

“Because I have one just like it in my room that goes to Tyson’s room.  Apparently they’d like for you and Pierce to get together too.”  I said with another groan.  Brooke fell backwards beside onto the bed beside me and groaned as well.

“Of course.  I should have expected it since there’s two princes and I’m the closest thing around to another princess.

“Well, at least the one they’re setting you up with is actually nice.  You wouldn’t have a hard time being with Pierce, unlike stony Tyson who doesn’t have a fun bone in his body.”  I moved my hands to my head to massage the spot where a dull ache was beginning to appear.

“This sucks.”

“Sure does.”

“You know we’ll have to face the guys sometime soon right?”

“Yep.”

“Not now huh?”

Nope.”

“Well since we have time, what happened between you and Tyson?  I’m assuming that something did since you rushed in here like that.”  Brooke said with a slight smirk.  I openly grimace.

“We talked, and basically I told him that he gets to decide whether we can be friends or not.  After that, I left and locked the door between our rooms.  If he’s even tried to talk to me, which I’m sure he didn’t, he probably thinks that I’m ignoring him.  I just don’t understand why we can’t just deal with the situation and be friends.  But whatever, the ball is in his court now.”  I said, standing up and stretching.

“What are you doing?”  Brooke asked.

“It’s almost time for dinner.  I say we find some money, order pizza, and go ahead and face the guys.”

“You’re right, we’ve got to do it sometime.  I’ll order the pizzas, you scrounge up some money.  Deal?”  Brooke grinned at me and winked.  I couldn’t help but laugh; she always knew how to cheer me up.
