Chapter 10

Tugging hard on the shirt, it fell out of the closet and onto the floor.  I fell with hit, hitting the floor with a loud thud.  I sighed, getting back up and putting the pink shirt into the unending beaded bag handing around my neck.  I continued to pull all of the clothes out of my closet that I really wanted to take with me and put them in the bag.  After that, I threw in most of my flip-flops.  They were the only ones I had anyway, other than those formal shoes I hated.

Brooke walked into the room just as I was stuffing my favorite blanket into the bag.  She laughed loudly as I fell back onto the bed, exhausted.  I had been running around the room stuffing things into my bag for quite some time.

‘Are you fully packed already?’  I asked her as I got back up to push my hairbrush, toothbrush, and hair bands into the bag as well.  Brooke smiled and laughed, holding up her own beaded bag.

‘Apparently my parents decided to pack my bag while I was here.  I got home and they already had me fully packed other than a few more things that I wanted to add.’  Brooke said with a small laugh.  She knew that her parents loved her deep down; they just loved how close she was to the royal family as well.

‘I’m almost done now.’  I said, finishing up by putting in some of my waterproof make-up.  I didn’t have very much.  In fact, I almost didn’t wear any at all.

Brooke smiled, tossing me my woven sea-weed pillow.  She knew that I couldn’t sleep well without it.  ‘Thanks, anything else you can think of?’

‘Nah, but we might want a few snacks.  Who knows whether the house has any food n it yet.’  She said with a laugh. I joined in; it felt good to be able to laugh through everything that was going on.

‘You’re right.  We’ll pick some up from the kitchen before we leave today.’  I said, plopping down onto the bed.  Brooke shot me a special look as she sat down next to me.

‘So, I wonder how the guys are doing with their packing.’ Brooke said, looking at me strangely.  I shrugged.

‘I don’t care.  Well, I do hope that Pierce is packed but I could really care less about my fiancé.’  I said angrily, falling back onto the bed yet again.

‘Marina, he’s just upset over everything.  I agree that he shouldn’t have taken it all out on you, but do you blame him?  He’s going through all of the things that you are, he’s just taking it differently.’  Brooke said, trying to be the peacemaker.

‘He’s definitely taking it differently.  None of this is my fault, yet he’s trying to take it all out on me!  I’m beyond mad, but at the people who put all of this together.  I know that it’s not his fault, so I was trying to be good to him since we’re going to have to spend the rest of our lives together.  We at least have to be friends so that we’re not miserable.  He can’t act like a jerk to me all of the time, I won’t put up with it.’  I said softly, getting back up and pacing the room.  As I noticed various items that I wanted I picked them up and stuffed them into the bag.

‘I agree with you.  I just think that the two of you need to sit down together and talk about all of this.  You can wait until we get to the new house, and I’ll get me and Pierce out of the way so that you can talk in private.’  Brooke said as she grabbed my arm to stop my pacing.

I frowned at her.  ‘Ok, fine.  I’ll talk to him.’

‘Thank you.  Now do you think you’re fully packed now?’  Brooke said as a grin broke out on her face.  I nodded slowly, afraid of what she was thinking about.

‘Yeah, why?’  She smirked.

‘We need snacks right?’

I smirked as well, securing the bag around my neck and looking around my room one last time.  ‘Let’s go.'

Before we left the room, we both put on our bathing suit tops and threw tee-shirts on over them.  They would be much easier to travel in later in the day.  After we were ready we swam out of the room and through the castle halls to the kitchen.

‘Chef Marie, how are you today?’  I asked the large woman as the swam into the even larger room.  She was large because our dear Chef Marie liked to test her dishes before sending them out.  She was still very pretty with her dark hair and eyes with a dark green tail, and she was a good friend of ours.

‘I’m great princess.  May I ask what you want?  It’s almost lunch and you know we’re at our busiest before meals.’  Marie said with a cheeky smile.

‘Well surely you know about us leaving soon.  We want some snacks for the trip and some incase there’s no food in the house yet.’  I said with a smile.  ‘Could you spare any?’

‘Of course dear.  Anything for my two favorite girls!  Just don’t share with those boys if you don’t want to, you hear?  Don’t let them take your food!’  Marie said with a wide grin.  To be honest, I wasn’t entirely sure whether or not she was joking.

‘Sure thing Marie.  You know how protective of our food we are.’  Brooke said with a smirk.  Marie grinned back and started pulling various food items out of the cabinets and handing them to us.  We put it all into an extra beaded bag, that way we could find it easily instead of rummaging through both of our bags.

After getting what we wanted of food, we each gave Marie a hug and said our goodbyes.  By that time, it was almost time for lunch.  That also meant that it was almost time for us to leave.

I was honestly dreading this whole trip.  I didn’t want to spend all of that time with Tyson.  Unless he got nicer, I didn’t want to even be near him.  I didn’t want to be miserable for the rest of my life.  So far though, that’s how it looked like it was going to turn out.

Slowly Brooke and I made our way through the castle halls from the kitchen to the dining room.  We were there pretty early, sitting down at our seats with only a few others waiting.  There were place cards denoting our seats, and I was placed between Brooke and obviously Tyson.  On the other side of Brooke was a place card for Pierce, once the brothers got her.

Slowly the dining hall filled up with people and eventually Pierce and Tyson showed up and sat down.  There was an awkward silence between Tyson and I; Pierce and Brooke were the only ones holding a conversation close by.  Silently I noticed the bags sitting against the wall behind us.  There were two duffel bags, apparently one for each brother.  I knew that they would use big bags, and I had tried to help, but oh well.

Finally, both kings and queens came into the room, causing everyone to get up from our seats.  When the monarchs glided to their seats and sat down, everyone else followed suit.  When everyone was seated, my father raised his hand.  Instantly the hall was quiet as they all looked at him expectantly.

‘Thank you all for joining us yet again.’  My father said with a diplomatic smile  ‘As you know, our princess will be going with her friend Lady Brooke to like with Princes Tyson and Pierce for a while before the wedding.  They will be leaving soon after lunch is over.  We will have our lunch, then we will see them off to the mainland.’  He said as servants came forward with platters of food.

When lunch was over, my father announces that anyone who wished to see us off should go into the main hall.  I watched as Pierce and Tyson both picked up a duffel bag each and slung them over their shoulders.  I was suddenly grateful that all I had to carry were two beaded bags around my neck, since I had offered to take the one with food inside of it from Brooke.  They were practically weightless, and wouldn’t bother me at all during the trip.

Finally it was time for us to leave.  After saying our goodbyes to everyone, we finally opened the large doors and made our way into the courtyard and surrounding village.  We swam away to the sound of clapping and cheers from the people.  Our kingdoms were very happy to be joining together apparently.  As much as I hated what was going on, I will do anything to help my kingdom.

As we swam into the open sea towards California, the sounds behind us died down.  There was an awkward silence between us, and it would probably stay that way for a while.  I had a feeling that it was going to be a long swim to shore.
