Chapter 14
The next morning the four of us went out to breakfast together at a nearby restaurant. Brooke and I were watching the guys as close as we could without it being entirely suspicious. By unspoken agreement, we were both hoping to figure out what they were hiding from us. I knew that it was a long shot for us to actually figure it out, but I was hoping that we would at least find a clue of some sort.
Breakfast was pretty normal, and we found no secrets hidden in the way the guys ate or acted. After breakfast, everyone reached an agreement that we would all go watch a movie. I loved the idea at first, until Brooke and Pierce sat next to each other at one end of a four person row. That left me sitting awkwardly next to Tyson on the other end since he’d sat down before me. It wasn’t truly bad, just really awkward. I didn’t know what to say or do for the entire movie.
After the movie, the four of us relaxed around the house for the rest of the day. We alternated between swimming and watching TV. All in all, it was a pretty good day for all of us. Tyson had actually kept up a good conversation with me, even if it was just polite chatter. It was at least a step in the right direction.
Later in the evening, Brooke and I discovered four laptops in the study, designated for each of us by color. That night I happily took mine upstairs to my room and plugged it up. I’d only used a computer a few times before. It wasn’t something that we could use back in the kingdom after all. So having my own personal laptop was a pretty big thing for me.
That night when I was in the shower, I swore I heard someone laughing. I brushed it off, thinking that Brooke and Pierce were being stupid. I didn’t realize how right I was until the next morning though.
That morning when I woke up I got ready as I normally would. I wore jean shorts and a light purple blouse. After brushing my hair out, I deemed myself acceptable. Going to the door, I tried to push it open, but it wouldn’t budge. I pushed even harder, turning the handle as I put all of my body weight against it. Still, it didn’t move an inch.
“What in the…” I grumbled under my breath, suddenly hearing the same laughter that I’d heard the night before. “Brooke! Pierce! What in the heck did you do?” I yelled, not worried about waking Tyson. This was much more important than the prince’s beauty sleep.
“Nothing much…” Brooke called back at me.
“We only locked you and Tyson in your rooms. Except for the door between you guys of course.” Pierce said with a laugh.
“And why would you do that?” I asked through gritted teeth, trying to keep myself as calm as possible.
“You two only have like two months to get to know each other and you’re not doing too good at it. If you’re stuck alone together for a full day it might bring you closer.” Brooke replied sweetly. I groaned.
“What about food? What will we eat all day long?” I asked, trying to get out of this nonsense.
“We’ve already taken care of that. In your closet I hid a mini fridge with things to get you through the day. In Tyson’s closet Pierce hid a microwave and plates and stuff. You guys have to work together to feed yourselves today. Don’t let your fiancé starve please.” She said, and I could almost hear the smirk in her voice.
“Fine. I guess we don’t have much of a choice here.” I said, giving the door one last fruitless push. Pierce chuckled.
“No, you don’t, not at all. Now go wake up my brother. I don’t know how he managed to sleep through your yelling.” With Pierce’s words, I heard the two of them walking away in the direction of the stairs. I groaned and sank down to the floor in front of the door. Now I was stuck inside a room with Tyson for a whole day. And I was supposed to wake him up too… This would be interesting.
