Schyler Knows Her

I parked my Jeep and walked up to my house. As soon as I walked through the door I was greeted by my sister Schyler. "You hit Genna!?" She shouted. "You know her?" I asked, struggling to recall if Schyler ever mentioned her. "Colton she's my best friend at school. Of course I know her!" She said, crossing her arms over her chest. I sighed. "It wasn't intentional ok? I donated blood to her so she'd get better. She underwent surgery and came out fine. Now we're just waiting on her to wake up. Now if you'll excuse me, I need to shower and change before I go back there. But first..." I quickly grabbed her in a bear hug and she squealed. "Ew Colton you stink!" She said, shoving me away. I chuckled as I walked up the stairs. I quickly showered and changed into my Batman shirt and jeans. I headed down the stairs to find Schyler putting on tennis shoes. "Where are you going?" I asked. "With you to see Genna." She simply said as if it was obvious. I sighed again. "Fine lets go." I said, walking out of the house with her on my heels. As the car started she cleared her throat. "So Mrs. Schafer told me something very interesting after she talked to you." She said. "Oh? What did she say?" I asked, playing it off as if I didn't know. I had a sinking feeling in my stomach though because I knew exactly what she was going to say. "She said that you liked Genna." She said, grinning at me. I didn't say anything as I felt my cheeks burn. "You're ears are even red!" She said, grabbing them. I groaned as I cover one up. "Colton's got a crush! Colton's got a crush! Colton's got a crush!" She sang in a sing-song voice. I sighed. The things I have to go through.

"Colton do you even know what she's like? I'm assuming Mrs. Schafer told you her back round but do you know what she likes and dislikes?" Schyler asked after sitting in silence for a few minutes. Truth is, I didn't. "I guess I don't." I admitted sheepishly. "Can you please enlighten me?" I asked. "Sure thing!" She said, bouncing in her seat. "Ok so Genna loves the outdoors. She also likes animals. She loves the beach. She loves to sing and draw. She actually wants to be a Christian singer like you Colton. She's a huge fan of yours. She's also a Christian - obviously - and you guys would be so cute together!" She squealed the last part. I rolled my eyes. "Schyler calm down she hasn't even met me yet. You don't know what God has in store for us either." I simply said. She pouted and sank down in her seat. I turned back to Genna and took her hand again. It was so small and delicate compared to my large and calloused one. I got a warm, tingly feeling in my chest. It was that feeling that you got when you had a rough day at school but came home to your mom's caring arms. That feeling you got when you realize how much someone truly loves you. That was it! Love! I didn't like Genna. I loved her.
