After brushing my hair and doing my makeup I practically fell down the stairs running to the door. I opened it to reveal Colton. "Hi." I breathed. I was a bit out of breath from moving so fast. "Hey you." He said, smiling. I heard someone clear their throat from behind us. We turned to see Tim standing there with his arms crossed. I felt my cheeks begin to burn. "Who are you and what are your plans with my daughter." Tim asked, coming closer to us. "I'm Colton Dixon sir. I wanted to see how Genna was doing and to see if she would like to come to the park with me." Colton politely said. "What will you be doing at the park?" Tim asked, giving Colton a wary look. Now I felt my whole face on fire. "Tim." I hissed in embarrassment. "It's ok Genna he has a right to be cautious. He hardly knows me. Sir Genna and I will just be walking around and talking. I promise nothing else." Colton said. Tim thought it over, but nodded. "I want her back by 8 on the dot. Got it?" He sternly said. "Got it sir." Colton said. I sighed and dragged Colton out the door. "He seemed nice." Colton said after a few minutes. I chuckled. "I'm just surprised he didn't grab the shot gun." I said. We laughed. "So how have you been?" He asked. "I've been well. My arm hurts from the attack but other than that I'm good. The doctor said that Brian tried to inject me with acid." I shuddered. Colton gasped. "Are you serious?" He said. I nodded. "I'm sorry Genna." He said, wrapping his arm around my shoulders. I swear I saw sparks flying from the contact. "It's ok dude." I said, giving him a reassuring smile. We arrived at the park. A small river ran through it and a willow tree grew right next to it. It's long, majestic branches swaying in the soft breeze. I immediately ran towards it. I loved willow trees. Once I reached it I plopped on the ground and just gazed up at it. It was so beautiful. Colton cut into my gaze and just smiled at me. "I'm going to guess you like willow tres?" He asked. "I love them!" I shouted, grinning. He chuckled. "Come on, lets go walk." He said, holding his hand out to me. I took it and he pulled me up. We stood there for a minute, staring at our clasped hands. Then we looked at each other and quickly let go. We both awkwardly chuckled and my cheeks began to burn. I saw his did too. We began to walk along the river, talking more about our selves. Suddenly Colton stopped and stared at the river. "What?" I asked him, stepping closer to get a better look. 'Does he see something?' I thought, because I sure didn't. "I bet you can't jump it." He suddenly said. "Jump the river?" I asked, unsure of what he meant. He nodded and smirked. That's a challenge. "You're on dude!" I said, backing up. The river was about as wide as I was tall, so it really wasn't that wide. I ran at full speed and once my foot hit the edge I pushed with all my might. I felt the wind blow through my hair and I began to descend. I landed with a thump safely on the other side. I turned to a very stunned looking Colton. "Beat that!" I laughed. Colton began to back up as well. He was definitely going to make it. He was like six foot he can definitely make it. He began to run at full speed too and jumped. 'Too early' I thought as I saw him descend into the middle of the river. The river was completely mud and he sunk down into it. I laughed as he tried to get out but only fell back in, coming up coated in mud. "Not so easy is it now?" I asked, still giggling. He laughed too. Being the nice person I am, I held my hand out to him. Biggest mistake ever. He took it but quickly yanked me in as well. I screamed as a icy blast hit me in the face. I felt the mud begin to coat me. I burst through the water gasping for air. I looked down at myself to see nothing but brown. Colton was laughing so hard that his tears left tracks on his cheeks. "Really?" I asked. "Yes definitely yes. That had to be done." He said, still laughing. That's when I grabbed a glob of mud and threw it, hitting him square in the face. He stopped laughing and gave me a look that said "you're dead". I stuck my tongue out at him. "Oh it's on now." He said, lunging at me. He grabbed me and began to dunk me. Every time he did that I grabbed mud and stuck it on his head. After a few minutes of this he stopped and we just laughed. Soon our laughs subsided and we gazed into each others eyes. The breeze picked up a bit and the willow's branches began to sway around us. Colton looked at my lips and back at my eyes. We began to move our heads a bit closer together. My heart was hammering in my chest. 'Oh my gosh this is really happening.' I thought in excitement. Our lips hesitantly brushed together, testing their new boundaries. Then they locked together and I've never anything like this in my entire life. It seemed like just a kiss but it felt like so much more than that. Sparks flew and it felt like fireworks were going off in my chest and my heart raced. I felt lighter and happier than I ever have before. Suddenly I heard a shutter sound and we broke apart, looking around to see where that came from. Finally I saw Schyler standing at the base of the tree with her phone, grinning like an idiot. "Aw their first kiss!" She squealed like a fan girl. My face was on fire as Colton laughed. This day was always going to be on my mind. It was always going to have a place in my heart.
