I've been in the hospital for a while now. It's not so bad though, family and friends visit me all the time. Colton has never left though. His mom brings him clothes and the doctors let him shower here. He also sleeps in a pull up cot next to my bed. We talk late into the night constantly and have wheel chair races in the hall ways. Lets just say we've become acquainted with the doctors and nurses these past few days. Some laughed, some scowled. Which was understandable. We even went down to the child department and talked to the children. They loved us! One boy Allan was so sweet. He always gave me stickers and I talked to him about Legos. Colton and I were walking to meet all them right now. "You going to sing today?" I asked him. He would do that sometimes too. This girl Zoe absolutely loved it when he sang. "I might but there might be a change of events." He said. I looked at him curiously but he just winked at me. We arrived after a few moments and all the kids flocked to us. I said my hellos and hugged them all, then I walked to Allan. He was a cancer patient, but also a cripple. My heart broke every time I saw his bald head and all the tubes sticking out of his body. "Hey Allan." I said, smiling at him. "Hi Genevieve!" He smiled back. "What do you have there?" I asked, noticing he was holding a brightly colored book. "It's my new Lego book. Do you want to see it?" He asked eagerly. "Of course!" I said, scooting closer. "Before we do this though, I need to ask you something." He said, giving me a serious look. "Ok what is it?" I asked. "Do you know why I call you Genevieve and not Genna?" He asked. I shook my head no. "It's because Genevieve is a beautiful name. It shows everyone how beautiful you are through your name." He said smiling at me. My heart melted at that. "Aw Allan! That's so sweet thank you!" I said, hugging him. "That's why I want to do this before any other man can." He said, grabbing something underneath his pillow. "Hey Colton can you come hear please?" He called, pausing on whatever he was about to pull out. A hand on my shoulder alerted me of Colton's presence. "What's up?" He asked. "You know a few prayers right?" Allan asked. I almost laughed because he sounded like an Italian guy trying to negotiate with someone. "Yeah I do why?" Colton asked. "Because of this." Allan said, pulling out a black velvet box. I gasped. "Miss Genevieve Binner, will you marry me?" He said, opening the box to show a little diamond ring in it, the kind you get from a dispenser. What do I do though? I have to think fast. I don't want to crush him but I also don't want to lead him on. The boy was seven. But he didn't have long to live and I wanted to make his life that best. "Yes Allan." I said, smiling. "Colton hurry! My life's short and I don't want to waste it! Say the prayer!" He rushed Colton. I didn't realize it but when Allan said that his hand tightened on my shoulder. Now Colton's hand was really hurting me. "Ow Colton." I mumbled. He let go. "Sorry. Don't you think we should get you back to your room? It's getting late and you still need to rest." He said, helping me up. I looked at the clock and realized that it was noon. "Aw man! I promised Doc that I would be in my room to eat lunch at noon!" I said, getting up. "Can we reschedule the wedding husband?" I asked Allan. "Sure wife." He said smiling. We left after that. "That was sweet." Colton said after a few moments of silence. "Yeah it was." I said, playing with the ring. It was a gold band with a small diamond rhinestone. Silence envelopes us again. "Were you jealous?" I blurted out. I was curious and I couldn't hold it in anymore. Colton paused. "Truthfully? A little bit." He said. 'Colton was jealous!?' I thought to myself, but I stayed quiet. We arrived back to my room for lunch. We passed the rest of the day by talking and laughing and sharing memories. Man, I knew I really liked Colton before I knew him, but now... I think I really really liked him. Aw what the heck, I loved him! He was so sweet and nice and caring. But does he like me back?
