I have a four year old male regular ball python his name is Emerys and I love him to death.1.) don't let the cage drop below 75 degrees F, or get above 95 degrees F.
.) if they are always shedding in pieces especially when their young (1-25 years) you need to boost the humitiy.
.) feed weekly unless eating medium rats then every other week.
.) try to handle at least once a week unless sick.
.) check especially during winter for respiratory infections (if their having a hard time breathing make weird noises like wheezing or sneezing have snot bubbles or spit bubbles these are all signs of a RI boost the humitiy a bit and heat if it doesn't clear up within 48 hour take your ball python to the vet.)
.) feed frozen rats and mice (rats almost always and sometimes mice will injure your snake.)
.) give them a big enough hiding space
.) RESEARCH (I didn't realized how much I didn't know about Emerys until I was trying to figure out why he was making wheezing noises. Especially if you're considering or in the process of getting a ball python research they are easier to care for, and live with if you know about them.)
.) don't rehome them (it stresses them and ball pythons are prone to starve when moved to a different house or even cage.)
.) be committed to the snake for all it's life (you'll have this companion for 45 years or more so make sure your up for the challenge.)
.) seriously don't punish a snake if they bite you or someone else they can't defend themselves if your wrongly accusing them of why, and they don't know that it's wrong to bite you or a guest their either hungry, hurt, or very scared, or you or someone else provoked them.
Until next update~Ash
