I woke up to a kick into my genitals. It was soft so it didn't hurt. It felt as though an infant had kicked me which got me curious. When I opened my eyes I saw that it was a dog that kicked me. A pug, I couldn't say what kind. I'm not big on dogs. I'm not big on any animal. I looked up and saw Tanaka's face smiling on top of me. He had a bowl of cereal in his hand and a stupid smile on his face.

'Well, good morning there...' he said

Jerk. I thought to myself, I was not sure why I felt that way but I did. He made me feel annoyed and involved somehow, yet completely aware of the unknown situation, jerk.

'You planning to stay down there all day or are you actually going to get some work done for me today?' He turned around and began walking away. It made me realize that I laid in the door way of his office, I stood up quickly and my hair fell on my face. Pulled it all back and reached for my hair tie, it wasn't there; it had fallen to the floor. I reached for it and Tanaka ran and stepped on my foot. I flinched.
He didn't move. I made an attempt to move him by pushing my hand up but that only caused me more pain. I laid my plan to rest after a few tries. Tanaka reached behind his back with his free hand and he pulled out a knife, my knife.

'What are you doing with that?' I hissed.

'What this? You want it back, just like you want your phone back? Don't be foolish little girl, don't ever be foolish. You're working for Gray now.'
I wrinkled my forehead. Gray? Who was Gray? I didn't ask out loud because as I was about to he lifted his foot off my hand and ordered me to stand up and so I did.

'Are you alright?' he asked.

'Uh yeah I'm-"

The knife flew passed my ear cutting a little of my hair out as it flew to stick on the door behind me. I didn't move. I stared at Tanaka and slightly squinted a little staring deep into his soul.
'What was that for?' I asked him, my voice came out deeper than I had ever heard it. I instantly remembered his mother calling him Gray.

'You will never ever disrespect me again do you hear!' he screamed.

'What are you talking about?' I replied heading for my knife on the door.

'You don't just walk in to people's room in the middle of the night Blade; you don't open their offices while their asleep and you definitely Do Not try to kill someone in their own home!!'

I stared at him and folded my arms. A small pout rose. He said he had hired me to kill for him. Did he have any idea who I was? Killing people in their home was what I did for a living.

'Do you feel violated?' I asked in a childish voice. Then proceeded to laugh. 'Have you met me?'
He didn't reply and so I decided to speak again. 'Can I have my phone back now?'

'You bloody...' he said running towards me with his arms raised. I bended my knees and lifted him flipping him and throwing him on the floor. I placed my knee on his chest. It was my turn.
'Why are you so mad?' I asked him, lifting my weight off him slowly.

'Hello. You tried to kill me!'

'Oh don't tell me you didn't expect it a little.' I said to him. He frowned. 'Who are you? What do you want from me?

He stifled a laugh, 'Isn't that your area of expertise, finding people out, getting close but not too close. Always being a step ahead?'

My face softened. Why hadn't I researched him. Though I hadn't had much time or resources. That's what I told myself. I needed my phone. I looked back searching for a desk, a shelf, a bag?
He threw me off of him and I noticed how smooth the wooden floor below me was as I slid across it. When I stopped I noticed files on a shelf they read. GRAHAM TANAKA in bold and all caps. It became clear to me that I had a lot of work to do. He knew me I was sure. That was unheard off as it was often the thing I did first. You had to befriend your mission so that they would not expect you. You should never get to close, moving in with the assignment is an absolute no unless you plan on going to the funeral and staying in touch with the family. Most importantly; you didn't blow your cover.
I had done the opposite of everything I was ever taught. My stomach turned.
