I shouldn't have said it so quickly.

A huge explosion sounded from the right of me, and Leo turned to protect me from the flames and shrapnel.

It didn't cross my mind till moments later, but Leo was immune to fire.

"Leo!" I screamed. He still stood in front of me, blocking my view of the explosion.

My heart rate flew into an ungodly speed, and my breathing turned frantic.

Leo kindly grabbed me and helped me out of Bunker 9, trying to avoid breathing in any smoke.

Soon, Chiron had raced over with a very guilty-looking Connor Stoll. He was a Hermes kid, one that Leo pranked with all the time.

"Leo, bro, I'm really sorry. The bomb wasn't supposed to hurt your chariot, it was aimed for someone else..."

"Harley?" He asked. "Nyssa?" You could've killed them! You could've killed y/n!"

"I know. I didn't think the explosion was going to do this. It shouldn't have done this."

Chiron seemed to have aged twenty years. The poor centaur looked very worried.

"Leo, I don't think Connor meant to explode anything."

"What?"

"Leo, y/n, we need to talk. You too, Connor."

Leo seemed to wince, but he tried eagerly not to show any signs of pain.

That's when I noticed it.

All over Leo's arms and back were tiny pieces of scrap metal, wood, and celestial bronze.

"Chiron? Leo is in need of medical attention. This is a job too big for me. I need Will, stat."

Chiron sent a nearby satyr to fetch Will, and when he arrived, I instantly felt better.

"Y/n, go with Leo, and we'll talk after. I'll need you too, Will, if you can make it."

"I can. We'll be there as soon as Leo's fixed up."

"Alright."

Leo, Will and I all made our way to the infirmary. I sat on my bunk, while Leo laid facedown in the cot.

Sometimes Will would have to pull out a large piece of shrapnel, and Leo would groan or yelp.

The sound always made me wince, and I wanted to take this from Leo. I wanted to fix him, to take away all his hurt.

It was crazy how close I'd gotten to him, given the two weeks we'd spent together.

It had been almost two hours now, and Will still wasn't done. Leo was still in pain. It was an awful sight to see.

About thirty minutes later, Will had finally finished healing Leo. I was glad that he was all fixed up now. Less worry for me.

We met Chiron in the Big House, with Will and Connor joining.

"Thank you, demigods, for being here."

I looked around uneasily.

"I do not know exactly what to make of our situation. Things aren't going right anywhere. Connor had set up an explosion of flour to prank you into thinking your chariot was messed up, but he had no intent on actually ruining your chariot. Y/n mysteriously went missing in the Labyrinth. I think something has been stirring. An old enemy, perhaps? I do not know. I need you four to be on high alert all the time. And you, Will, fill in Nico. I spoke to him earlier, but he still needs to know the details of today."

"Yes, Chiron."

"And the summer is coming to an end. Y/n, are you leaving camp for the school year? I just want to know for reference. I fear the future is very connected with you..."

I seemed to have lost track of Chiron. I wanted to go back to my mom, to try and fix things. Part of me hoped that she was still in there, and that maybe I could get her back to the way she used to be.

Another part of me didn't want to leave Leo all alone. He stayed year-round because he had no one to go back to in the mortal world.

"I will try," I started.

Chiron's expression faded. "Okay."

I didn't want to look at Leo. I didn't know how I was going to explain this. This whole time, Leo had been under the impression that I would be staying year-round at camp. Having to tell him otherwise would break my heart and his.
