:::Drew's POV:::

We've been on tour over two months today. It's our last show and were in the great city of Atlanta. Lyric's sitting on the stage by Wes's guitar with Patience watching him making sure he doesn't get hurt. I can't wait to get home though, because I called the hospital and Emma's improving everyday and they even think she'll be awake soon.

"Drew you missed your intro!" Wes said making me jump back to reality.

"Oh sh-shoot!" I corrected myself from cussing in front of my son. "Run it again."

We started over and finished sound check. After that we were about to head backstage when I crouched down in front of Lyric. He clapped his little hands and grinned with his five tiny teeth. I found myself smiling back at him and I sat on my butt a few feet away.

"Come here buddy." I waved my hand.

He scooted himself into a crouched position, and then he stood up all by himself! I was ready to cry. He took two wobbly steps toward me and stumbled some but managed to make it into my arms. I hugged his little body tightly.

"Drew, oh my god did he just walk!?" Wes jumped back up on the stage and ran over to us.

I nodded. "He sure did!"

"Awe, he's a big boy now!" Keaton sang joining us.

"I got it on video!" Patience exclaimed happily. "Drew I'm honestly so proud of you. You're a great dad."

It felt good to hear that since I never know what I'm doing with him. Emma's mom probably thinks I suck. She won't take my calls and she hasn't come out to see her own daughter or grandson. My mom wants us to come see her when we get back, but we haven't set it up yet. She's at least seen pictures though. "Thanks Patience. I couldn't do it without you guys though." I said looking at my son's makeshift family. The phrase raised by wolves played in my head making me chuckle. "Let's go eat! I'm starving!"

:::Patience's POV:::

Going through life without your very best friend is almost impossible. She's so close yet so very far at the same time. Getting on social media and seeing the boys fans praying for Emma was hard, but it was even harder to see the ones that hated on her. I can't take it anymore. I don't know what I'll do if she doesn't wake up sometime soon.

We got home from tour today. I couldn't believe Drew's son took his first steps in Atlanta. That's a story for the media for sure! The fans absolutely love Lyric. I mean who doesn't though, he's such a cutie pie. Wes asked me to be his girlfriend on national tv while we were in New York so we've been official dating for almost a month now, and it's going pretty well I guess.

"Hey babe, are you going to see Emma today?" Wes called as he carried in the last of my luggage for me.

"I was going to head over after I unpack. Why?" I asked.

"Well, Drew just called and said they upped the dose on some of her meds and she should wake up soon." He smiled.

I felt my heart leap on my chest. "I hope she does." Emma and I had been friends a long time. She was like the sister I never had. We'd done everything together, and I was crushed without her. If I hadn't had Wes this whole I don't know what I'd do.

"Me too, but no matter what everything's going to be okay." Wes assured me.

I nodded my head. "Will you come with me?" I picked up me keys and looked at him pouting.

He chuckled. "Yeah, but I'm driving because you scare me when your drive."

I laughed and we went to the car. We got to the hospital and filled out the visitor forms. After that we made our way to the room at the end of Emma's hall. There was commotion on the other side of the door so we hurried in. Drew was standing with Lyric in his arms, and nurses were rushing around.

"What's going on?" I asked looking down at Emma's bed.

"She's waking up." Drew smiled.

Emma was lolling her head from side to side and she mumbled incoherently. I noticed she'd lost tons of weight and she was pale from being inside so long. "Will she remember us?" I asked one of the nurses.

"We won't know until she's fully conscious, but she's heavily sedated so it'll be hard to tell right away." The nurse answered me.

"Ma-ma!" Lyric reached his hand toward Emma's bed making my heart melt. It's so awful she's missed so much of her son growing up. It's unfair because she would've been such a great parent.

"That's right buddy, that's mommy." Drew cooed with a proud smile. I have to give him credit, he's done a fantastic job with Lyric.

"I don't want her to be overwhelmed so can you two please wait in the area down the hall?" The doctor asked Wes and I.

We nodded and made our way to the waiting area. Wes held my hand to keep me from pacing the floor, but it didn't calm me down. I was still a nervous wreck as I sat in the uncomfortable chair waiting for my best friend to wake up out of her coma.
