You Have Me Hooked

Chapter Fourteen

Evie and Harry woke up to the sound of someone coming up the stairs. The two of them, startled, got up and began getting dressed.

"Evie, dear, are you here?"

Evie looked at Harry with a startled look on her face. He mouthed 'what' to her and she pointed to the closet and mouthed back 'Get in there now.'

Without hesitation, he picked up the rest of his clothes and scurried into the closet. She finished getting dressed and made her bed by the time the unknown person climbed all the flights of stairs.

"Evie?"

The one person Evie did not expect to see walked in the doorway.

"Ben?"

"Oh, Evie I've missed you. I needed to see you and help you with your grieving process," He said wrapping his arms around her, pulling her in for a passionate kiss.

"Hi, oh my goodness I can't believe you're here in my house on the Isle."

"Yeah surprise!"

"But, what about the kingdom?"

"I can afford to take a few days off to help my wife can't I?"

"Of course you're the king. What about Harry?"

"That's another surprise," Ben said while turning around, "Come on in son."

Evie's eyes filled with tears as her adorable son ran into her arms.

"Mommy, mommy, mommy! I missed you so much."

"I missed you so much more," She said squeezing him tighter.

"It's cool here, Mommy. I don't know why you left."

"Oh sweetie..."

"When can I meet your friend, Harry?"

"Well, sweetie I think very soon."

"Yay!"

"Hey, why don't you play with some of my old toys over there in the corner while your Daddy and I talk?"

Little Harry ran towards the toys and began pulling out every toy in sight. Evie turned to her husband with a worried look on her face.

"Why would you bring him here? The Isle is not safe and I don't want my son around some of the people here?"

"I thought it would be good for you to see your son while you were dealing with your mother dying. Plus he would not stop talking about how he was named after the fearless Captain Hook's son."

"That's sweet of you, but it still isn't safe for him or you."

"I have lots of guards with me don't worry. And speaking of worry, how's your mother doing?"

"Uh, she died this morning."

"What? Evie, I'm so sorry."

Ben pulled Evie in for a tight hug. She happily hugged back and for a moment she forgot all about her other issues and allowed her husband to be loving towards her.

"Hey, why don't you and Harry head downstair and I'll meet you in the living room? I want to change my clothes and get ready because we have a busy day planned of showing you two the Isle and meeting friend, okay?"

Harry sprung up from his toys with a grin from ear to ear on his face.

"Yes and yes!" He said grabbing his father's hand and leading him towards the door.

"Fifteen minutes okay?"

Ben nodded and picked up Harry, shutting the door on his way out. Once they were a few flights down, Evie opened the closet door.

"Oh. My. God."

"What the hell are they doing here?"

"I have no clue. This is my worst nightmare!"

"Look it's okay. Just get ready and take them the long way to the cove and I'll meet you there."

"Okay, but he doesn't know anything about us so please try to act appropriately. My son is here."

"Yes, I heard. Glad to hear you talk about me."

Harry winked at Evie and gave her a cheeky smile. She just rolled her eyes and pushed back inside the closet. She threw her hair into a high ponytail and applied a slight amount of makeup. Then she went over to her vanity which had a few clothes and put on a pair of skinny jeans, red lace-up flats, and a navy blue crewneck with a poison apple on it.

"Here goes nothing," Evie said to herself as she walked out her bedroom door.
