Episode 3: New Teammates - I Tied with Black Star

EPISODE 3: NEW TEAMMATES - I TIED WITH BLACKSTAR

"Alright. I'm not going to hold back." Black Star warned.

"Stop talking and let's practice already." I groaned. "You're killing me here." I had given up waiting for him five minutes ago and Fang was sitting on the ground pulling up grass.

"Fine. Tsubaki." His partner transformed into her chain scythe form. "Let's take her down." He said.

"Finally. Fang?" I held out my hand and he grabbed it.

"You got it." Fang quickly transformed and I smiled at Black Star.

"This match can't last too long. Every other pair is already on round three." I said. Black Star laughed.

"I won't need a round three. I won't even need a round two!" He jumped at me. I twisted so his blade barely missed my back and actually cut my shirt. I flicked the whip and it looped around Black Star's ankle.

I left the whip there as Black Star spun and came at me again. I dodged and moved so the whip would loop up his leg.

It took several more tries before I was ready. Black Star had gotten two lucky hits: one on my arm and one on my opposite shoulder. Black Star twisted to come at me again and I yanked the whip up as hard as I could.

Black Star flipped and landed on his stomach. He stayed there for a second stunned before he looked at me. I smiled and flipped the whip back into my hands. "How did you do that?" He asked.

"Easy. You were moving forward and I pulled up creating two forms of momentum. It flipped you off your feet easily. Technically, it wouldn't have worked if you hadn't have been moving forward." I explained. In truth, it had been a lucky guess and a gamble.

"That's too scientific for me." Black Star looked bored.

"Okay. I'll make it simple: I beat you this round." I put an emphasis an the last part making sure he got it.

"You beat me?!" Black Star launched himself to his feet. "No more going easy. Tsubaki, enchanted sword mode." Tsubaki transformed into a black katana sword.

"I thought that wasn't going easy before. Okay then. Round 2." I said with a smile. Black Star came at me again, but he moved so fast I only saw flashes. I blinked and he punched me. I got knocked back off my feet and I collided with a tree. I slide down and the world was covered in flashing rainbow bubbles.

After a second my vision cleared and I stood up. "Well that hurt." I muttered.

"Stay focused, Dragon. He'll come back before you can recover." Fang advised. I immediately started looking for him, but I couldn't see him.

"Time to try out seeing souls." I muttered. I had seen his soul wave length before so I focused on it. He was up in a tree behind me, but I didn't show I knew. After about five seconds he jumped at me with a shout.

I twisted to face him, caught him around the chest with my whip, and threw him over my head. He landed with a crash and almost hit a tree face first. After a minute he stumbled to his feet.

"How did you do that?" Black Star asked. I noticed a few other students gathering around watching us.

"I saw your soul." I said as I gave him a sly smile.

"You saw my soul?" He asked surprised. "Why is it that everyone can do that except me?" He snarled at himself.

"Don't know." I answered his question. "But I want to finish this so come on."
