Alaya: I glare at you once again as you finish your sentence. How could you do something like that? "You know I was actually starting to like you and then you do some shit like this. Why would you EVER put your hands on someone else? Literally what is wrong with you?" I start to stand up from my chair grabbing my bag.

Kai: I rolled my eyes and took another drink. "It was a mistake. I got the help, my anger hasn't gotten to that point since, and I've encountered people who've pissed me off far worse than she did." I smiled wryly, nonchalant about the whole thing. "Should I take my card back then? I assume I shouldn't be expecting your vote."

Alaya: I fold my arms before saying "I will NEVER vote for someone like you. Our views are extremely different, I actually care about human rights. I care about schools in urban communities, I care about police brutality, I care about LGBT rights. Basically I'm a good person. I honestly would be a better person for council. But congrats on getting the help you needed." I wait enthusiastically for your answer. I slowly place my bag back down and sit on the bar stool waiting eagerly for your response.

Kai: "You don't even know what my views are, Alaya. I don't have to have the same views as our President to support him." I leveled you with a serious look. "To put it in perspective, the people closest to me include two gay men, one of whom is a detective, my sister and her girlfriend, and an urban reporter. All of them are outcast and ridiculed for who they are; they know they don't have to worry about that with me." I punctuate my sentence with a polite smile. "Like I said, Alaya, looks can be deceiving. And you have done something people accuse everyone of doing: stereotyped me. And that is the problem with this country."

Alaya: My face heats up in embarrassment. I stand there opening and closing my mouth before saying "Well, I'm sorry. I didn't know. I didn't mean to stereotype you, I hate it when people do it to me. My bad Kai."

Kai: "Don't apologize for doing something we all do." I shot you a small smile. "But keep in mind that, as I said, looks can be deceiving. Not everyone adheres to the stereotype assigned to them."

Alaya: "Wow things are getting deep in here" I say with a hint of playfulness in my voice.
