Chapter 24
"Castiel, this is going to hurt. You're too sick right now to go anywhere. I’m going to make it better."
Cas drew a ragged breath, gripping the edge of the bed as she lifted his shirt, pulled the cloth away from his injury.
"Do it," he ordered, teeth clenched, "I can handle it."
Cassi looked at him and he nodded. She took a deep breath, hands lighting up in a small flame. She ran the flame along the edges of the wound. Castiel's body arched and his face twisted in pain.
"It's alright, Castiel. It's almost over," she whispered. Cassiopeia bit her lip, closing the last part of the incision. Castiel breathed heavily, sitting up and looking at his side. He blinked as he glanced at Cassi. Cassiopeia sank into the chair beside his bed, closing her eyes. She was a Healer?! Castiel watched her stand up. His feet moved, almost unwillingly, in her direction. She took a step towards the door and stumbled. He caught her.
"I'm....I'm okay," she whispered. He frowned. No, she wasn't. Her words were slurring and she kept blinking, "really, you can...let go."
He steadied her and let go, watching as she took slow steps to her room. Leo rushed to her side when she gave a cry of pain and fell to her knees.
"Hey, I’m here."
He scooped her up and she buried her face in his shoulder.
"How long have you been a Healer?"
"All my life," she answered. Her voice was a whisper and Cas's face twisted in concern.
