Avelyn sighed.

"Drax is a dragon, responsible for the many deaths and hardships many of our kingdoms have faced. He's a monster who has no regard for life."

Jaxon took up the tale.

"Drax was once a human by the name Raiden Taylor. Raiden was a greedy man, always looking to get rich quick. Always looking for treasure. He would anything to get it, not caring who he hurt."

"So how did he become a dragon?" Castiel asked.

Demina came into the room and took a seat.

"Demi, you don't have to do this. You don't have to tell this story," Avelyn said quietly. Castiel's interest was piqued once again. Demina ignored her.

"He found a cave, a dragon's nest, filled with every treasure imaginable. Raiden didn't know that dragon's gold is cursed and he was too blinded by greed to care. He took some home with him, planning to go back for the rest," Demi paused, glancing at her water glass, "He wasn't expecting it to change him. In his anger and fear, he destroyed not only his own village but several more around it before retreating back into the cave."

"He is very...intriguing to say the least," Jaxon commented.

"How so?" Castiel asked.

"Well...it's been said that he can change from man to dragon at any point."

"My father was able to put him into a cryo-sleep before he died. But it seems...Drax has broken out of it," Avelyn said.

Castiel stayed silent, thinking.

"If this dragon is so terrible, why don't you put him into cryo-sleep again?"

Silence reigned at the table again as Avelyn looked down at her plate.

"My father...was...the only one who had the knowledge and the skill to do that, Castiel. He was going to teach me before he died but he never got the chance. His death was quite a shock."

Castiel bowed his head.

"I'm sorry for your loss."

Avelyn nodded, sending him a gentle smile.

"Something must be done about Drax though."

"Will you be safe on the pass, Jaxon?" Avelyn asked, worriedly.

Jaxon grinned and winked at her, trying to lighten the mood.

"Of course!" he said, cheerfully, "I have Castiel to protect me."

Demi quickly grinned. She hated seeing Avelyn so worried.

"Oh really?" Castiel scowled, "And what makes you think I'd stop and look after you?"

"I know you don't mean that Cas."

"And what if I do?"

Avelyn's eyes were wide. Demina smirked.

"Then...you're a coward. Why wouldn't you want to protect someone as kind and innocent as Jaxon?"

Castiel felt his mouth drop open, his eyes flashing.

"Madame. I have...NEVER...Ever been coward. EVER."

"Whelp," Demina said, "There's a first time for everything."

Castiel growled and Demina just smiled sweetly at him. Avelyn bit her lip and covered her smile.

"I think desserts ready," Jaxon announced, breaking through their glaring contest.
