Chapter 44
“Come out, you coward!” Jaxon shouted standing. A slow, malicious chuckle filled the cavern. It shook the rocks and Castiel couldn’t help but hold Demi’s body closer.
“Now, Jaxon. You don’t really want that. And I’ve never been a coward in my whole life.”
Avelyn shuddered, standing beside Jaxon and gripping his arm. The voice was deep and gravelly, filled with bitter hatred and violence.
“You’re right. You are a monster, not a coward!”
“Would you like to see how MONTROUS I CAN BE?!!!”
They all flinched as the ground once again shook underneath them.
“Jax!” she whispered. Jaxon turned to her.
“Avelyn, I want you safe. You need to go behind the rock.”
“Jax, no.”
“Avy, please. I don’t want anything to happen to you.”
“Alright, please...please be careful. Take this,” Avelyn said, handing him her sword.
“I love you, Avy,” Jaxon said, kissing her.
“I love you, Jax,” she whispered. She scurried behind a boulder, keeping an eye on him.
He hadn’t wanted to kill her. He didn’t mean to. He’d forgotten how stubborn Demina could be and how loyal she was to those she loved. He didn’t want her dead. He wanted to make her a queen and him...a king. But now, it was too late. It had been necessary to kill Demina. She didn’t understand. If he was going to rule Impreza, then he needed someone who would stay by his side. Someone who would support him in his plans. Demina would have been the hardest for him to kill. Rage and vengeance filled his heart and he roared, his body transforming into his dragon form. He grew taller, his hands becoming claws and his face morphing into a snout with sharp teeth. He arched his back, wings sprouting from his back. He did not scream in pain like the first time the transformation had taken place. He was used to it now. He relished the feeling of pain, looked forward to it. With a final growl and snort, he smirked.
Avelyn would die.
Avelyn’s eyes widened as the demon appeared, first one monstrous paw then another, a snout with glinting razor-like, and finally red-brown leathery wings. It was just like she would have imagined him. Everything was exactly like she had pictured except for the green intelligent eyes. This...this was Drax.
