“Lavender wake up! I let you miss school yesterday but I can’t let you skip today plus mom and dad are getting worried. If you don’t get up they’re gonna come knocking and the questioning will begin! Get up baby sis.” Reed shook me awake to get ready for school.
“I got it. I’ll get up. Now get out.” I grumbled and hesitantly got up. I sighed and walked to my closet. I didn’t want to go to school not now or ever. I just wanted to hide and stay here forever.
I took some skinny jeans and a long sleeved aquamarine plaid shirt. I took a shower and shaved. When I was done I got dressed and took my black boots to partner up with my outfit. I took my bag at went down for breakfast grumbling how I should just stay home.
“Goodmorning honey.” My mom greeted me with a big smile on her face. I didn’t know why she was so happy today well I guess anyone would be, just not me.
“Morning mom. What’s got you in a good mood today?” I questioned sitting myself for breakfast. She looked confused but just shrugged it and smiled at me. I smiled back, her happiness is contagious. “Gotta go or I’ll be late for school. Bye mom. Love you.” I shouted and hurried to my car.
I was driving slow ‘cause I didn’t want to face the people at school but everything good must come to an end. I arrived at school and saw that my parking space was unoccupied so I parked. I took a deep breath before getting down.
I was walking through the halls when I saw everyone was looking at me whispering. I could decipher some saying ‘Oh look she went to school. Poor Lavender, Jacob doesn’t deserve anything. That asshole.’ But I heard another saying ‘Look at her. She’s a slut bet you that she’s just lying so she could be center of attention.’ I sighed and stopped paying attention. Who in their right mind would spread a rumor that they were raped, someone desperate but not me. That was all true and I wouldn’t lie about something like that. I might not have the best image but I’m not a liar.
What I heard next was what caught my attention, ‘Did you hear? Poor Jacob! That bitch must be lying.’ And ‘Serves him right. He is an enemy of women. He deserves more punishment than he received.’
“Hey!” I shouted. They looked at me and looked nervous. I went to them. “What were you saying? What happened to Jacob?” I asked.
“Oh, you didn’t hear? He got suspended and was kicked out of the football team.” The girl replied.
I bet I looked liked a deer caught in headlights. I didn’t mean to get it this far. I released her and mumbled a thank you. I went to class thinking why it had happened. I was still a little early for class. No one was there yet except the teacher.
“Ms. Fernandez you’re excused for my class and you’re next one. Go to the principal’s office.” Mr. Johnson said.
“Yes sir.” I said and went to the principal’s office. Everyone was staring at me and whispering after 3 years of it I got used to it and I don’t care anymore. “Hi I was called in.” I said to the lady in front of the office.
“Lavender Fernandez, I assume? Yes, go straight to the principal’s office.” She said not once looking at me. I followed her instructions and went to the office. I knocked when I heard a gruff voice say, “Come in.”
“Sir, I was called in.” I said, standing by the door.
“Yes. Ms. Fernandez. Please have a seat.” I took a seat in front of him. “it has come to my attention that you were raped by Mr. Danfield?” He asked.
“Yes, it’s correct.” I was squirming. I didn’t like talking about this. In fact I hated it. I didn’t want to be a subject of pity and such.
