It was noon when I woke up the next day. Luckily, it’s Saturday and I won’t have to face Micale until Monday. Oh Monday! How I dread it.

I went down to get some food since my stomach was grumbling.

“Morning.” I greeted to my family.

“Lave its noon already. You’ve been sleeping in lately.” Said my dad not averting his gaze from the newspaper he was reading.

“Sorry. Had a rough day yesterday. What time did you get back?” I asked. I searched for a bowl, got the milk and my cereals and I ate my breakfast.

“Your mom and I got home around 8 in the morning.” He said. “What happened yesterday Lavender?” He was now eyeing me consciously.

“Nothing for you to worry about.” I stated and went to the living room to chill with Reed. When I got there no one was sitting watching television like every Saturday. Where was Reed?

“Hey dad?” I shouted.

“Yes Lave?” He replied.

“Where’s my idiot brother? It’s Saturday and his not hogging the tv like it’s his wife.”

“He went out. I think he is meeting with a girl. Not sure though when we got back he was readying himself to go out.”

That is suspicious. Saturday is supposed to be our lazy day together. Fighting over what to watch. Knowing he wasn’t here made me sad. I was having a rough day and he’s out playing, doing God knows what! But I can’t keep him here, just because he protects me doesn’t mean that he doesn’t have a life. I sighed. What should I do today? Since Reed’s not here and I don’t want to spend my lazy day with my parents.

“Hey dad?” I went back to the kitchen where my dad is. “Can I maybe go out and shop or something? Reed’s not here and I don’t know what I’m supposed to do so I thought maybe I can go out and spend your money?” I asked hopeful.

I’m not spoiled but I do like shopping sometimes. My family is loaded. Dad is part of the board of education and he is also an investor and a great one at that. While mom used to be a model and actress, that’s why I had a beautiful face, is now the CEO of the company ‘Shining Star’. It’s a scouting agency where a lot of aspiring models, actresses and singers gather to get a chance to sign with the agency. Despite that my mom tries to separate our private life from her job. Hence, why she doesn’t appear publicly.

“Why? You never willingly ask for money to shop unless it’s something important.” Dad replied. He seemed doubtful. Well he should be. I never liked shopping very much. Most of my wardrobe consisted of my mom’s old clothes and dresses she thinks would look good on me. I only shop when needed like when I was asked for prom last year and when my aunt got married. The handful of times I shop is when I think my closet is too girly and colorful that I shop and buy short, crop tops, statement shirts and converse.

“I’m bored and like I said earlier had a rough night yesterday so I want to take my mind of it by buying shirts or converse.” I replied. My dad knew me too well to go out and buy girly things, I only do that on occasion.

“Ok, here. You can spend as much as you want but Lave remember I’m here and so is your mom. If you need to talk you don’t have to hesitate, just ask us. We want to support you. I don’t want you to feel like we are never there for you. I know you try to handle everything by yourself but sometimes sharing the burden with others lightens the load on your shoulders, ok?” He worriedly said and handed me his black card.

“I will. Thanks dad and you know I love you. I just don’t show it too much.” I said and hugged him. I loved my parents they try to understand us and they never suffocate us by controlling our actions and yet they are firm and parent-like when need to be.
