The bed dipped and I felt it shaking. I groaned and turned to the other side wanting to go back to my peaceful sleep before someone disturbed it.
“GET UP!” I heard a voice shout directly in my ear. I jolted up to see my best friend grinning at me.
“What do you want?” I replied groggily and lay back down.
“Shut up you bitch! You have to text Micale the meeting place you promised that you’d talk to him, didn’t you? Or did you forget?” She pulled the covers and I shivered. I let her words sink in before I pulled the covers back and asked her to hand me my phone.
I noticed it was only 7 in the morning. I groaned. How does this girl have a ton of energy this early in the morning? I hate her.
‘Hey Micale, I know it’s still early but I wanted to know that we could meet at Starbucks down the road across the little bakeshop in town. Say around 3 pm? – L’
I threw my phone back at her and got comfortable only to have an annoying song play. I tried to cover my ear with the pillow but Becky took it away and handed me back the phone.
“Hello?” I said grumpily.
“Uh – Hey princess. It’s Micale. Hope I didn’t wake you up. I got excited so I just called. Sure we could meet up there but could we move it around 5 then go to dinner afterwards?” He sounded nervous and I smiled.
“No, an annoying presence did that for you. Sure, are you bringing anyone along?” I was hoping he’d say no. Becky wanted to come but I said no and she begged me until I caved and agreed to bring her along if Micale brought someone else too.
“No. Do you want me too?” I could almost hear his brain thinking and laughed at him.
“No, I was just asking since Becs wanted to come and I said I’d let her if you brought someone along so it’s good that you didn’t I don’t want the overprotective best friend to be present while we talk.” I heard some shuffling.
“That’s great. Ok, I’ll meet you at Starbucks. You can wear anything comfortable for dinner.” He replied. I agreed and we said our goodbyes.
“It’s a date.” Becky said in a singing type of talk.
“It’s not a date. We’re going to talk and fix whatever we have. I said I’ll give it a try and I’m pretty sure we’re still in a relationship.” I got up and rubbed my eyes.
“Lave.” Her tone suddenly became serious.
“What?” I yawned and stretched.
“I don’t want you to get hurt and him as well. I met the guy and he’s decent. I don’t want anyone getting hurt here. I know you Lave more than you know yourself so I’m telling you this if you’re waiting for this relationship to crash and burn and you might as well stop it before both of you get in too deep.” She warned me.
“Becs, that is not my intention but can you blame me if in the back of mind I’m waiting when he’ll break my heart?” I tried to justify myself.
“I know. I’m just trying to protect you. Even if I don’t say this often I do love you bestie.” She gave me a small smile.
“I love you too. Come here.” I told her to get closer and hugged her tight. “Thank you for worrying.” We hugged for a few minutes before someone disrupted our moment.
“Sis – Woah! I didn’t know I’ll get a girl to girl action around here.” Reed burst in.
“Ew! I’m your sister!” I threw a pillow at him. He dodged and laughed.
