Becky and I were lounging still making plans for our devious plan. Mom knocked to tell me that lunch was ready. We didn’t go down to get breakfast.

“Oh, hi Becky. When did you get in?” Mom was shocked to see her here. Now that I think about it no one knows that Becky stayed here tonight.

“Hi Mrs. F I stayed the night here. I actually came in when everyone was asleep as you were all exhausted from the flight but I made Lavender stay up since she neglected to tell that you went on a vacation.” She explained. My family didn’t mind that she stays here without their knowledge because she was practically a part of the family.

Before we moved we each had a key of the house and that included Rebecca having her own. Since her parents travel a lot for business she always stayed with us rather than her nannies.

“I see. Well, it’s good to see you dear. You should stay until dinner. Where’s your parents?”

“They went to Africa and they said that I should know the family business and sent me to work at the franchise we have at the next town. Now I convinced my dad to let me transfer to Lavender’s school. They wanted to come down to visit but they an emergency happened. They’ll visit here after they’re done. Also, Mrs. F would it be alright to stay here? I didn’t want to rent an apartment anymore and it’s closer to school.” She gave my mom her puppy dog face.

She didn’t have to my parents considered her they’re daughter. When they went to buy this house they bought one with 8 rooms including Becky’s own room.

“Of  course dear. You’re family. Lavender will show you your room later for now its lunch time so come down to eat.”

We shuffled and raced downstairs. We were hungry and needed fuel to continue our devious plan.

“Oh, Becky. When did you come in?” Dad away from the television when he saw us panting hard.

“Hey Mr. F, I stayed the night. I asked Mrs. F if I could stay here since I transferred to Lavender’s school she said yes.” She went up to give my dad a hug.

“You know you’re always welcome to stay with us.” He nodded and we went to the kitchen.

“Dad where’s Reed?” I asked. They were only 5 plates.

“He went to work early. He said something about perfecting a new recipe. Your grandma would have been proud of him.” Mom explained.

“So who cooked?” I asked horrified. Becky looked equally horrified. Both my parents didn’t know how to cook so it was always Granny after she died Reed took over the kitchen.

“Oh, don’t worry hon. Your brother did before he went to work and gave me instructions. You don’t have to look so horrified. After I set the kitchen on fire two years ago I stopped.” My mom playfully replied.

I released the breath that I didn’t I was holding.

“Sheesh, you don’t have to look so relieved about it. You should be like Becky hiding that she was happy I didn’t cook.” Mom said haughtily.

“You know I love you mom but you can’t cook for shiz.” I said.

“No, I don’t love you anymore. I love Becky. Becky I’m adopting you. Tell your parents they can have Lavender instead.” She faced Becky.

Becky could only nod as she was stuffing her face the food Reed made. Reed was a great cook. He learned with Granny and studied in Paris.

“Fine. At least Mrs. Stanford knows how to cook.” I teased then pouted. They all laughed at me and went to eat the food.
