This short story takes place back in Athena and Jani's old hometown when the lived in the same neighborhood as each other. If you don't want to see spoilers to the actual story I'd advise you not to read this, but you will hear this information again in the future. So if you're still reading have fun! If not happy holidays :)
Jani: Athena! Athena! Look what I found!
Athena: Oh my father! Is thath whath I think ith is!
The two girls crept closer and closer to the creature. Never before seeing the long, pink and slimafied body. Questioning which end is the head, and not knowing how it eats.
Athena: Why is ith outh here in the rain?
Jani: Maybe~, he likes it? I don't know why but look at how its dancing on the melted ground like that!
They giggled at each other as they both attempted to pick the strange amphibian up with their pudgy little 7 year old fingers.
???: Athena! Gaia! Get inside now, you don't have any shields on!
Jani: Coming Mama! Just lemme bring Bubu in!
Athena: I wanna do ith! Can I? Can I?
Jani: A-alright, but do you remember how I told you to do it from last week?
Athena: Don'th worry Gai~ ! I thinkth by now I shouldth be able to withle without an oakth rooth.
Jani: That's not the point...
Before Jani, or at the time known as Gaia, could finish explaining why the pitch is more important than how loud you are, Athena shoved her fingers in her mouth and blew as hard as she could. Gaia covered her ears in pain as the rain ceased, and clouds parted.
Gaia: S-she did it! Athena, you did it in less than twelve hundred years! Amazing!
Athena flopped to the ground heavily breathing as Gaia praised her. She looked towards the sky waiting for BuBu to appear. A grinchy smiled appeared on her face as light shown through the clouds as Helios appeared soaking up the previous downpour that covered the streets, and creating a blockade of fluffy goodness throughout the sky.
Gaia: I told you I'd get the date right this year! December twenty first, jut like you told me!
Helios: Yes yes, but you didn't call me like I asked...
Helios hid a smirk behind puppy dog eyes, shedding an actor's tear and turning towards the huffing and puffing Athena.
Athena pops up and runs toward Helios wrapping him in a tight, and smothering embrace, making him crumble over her cuteness. Gaia leaps over onto his back lightly hitting his head calling him a liar while giggling.
Helios: Alright, alright, I admit it. I lied, it's alright that Athy called me, as long as someone remembers to wake me from my cycle it's fine. Let's get you inside cuties, and say hello to everyone.
Athena: Waith waith waith! Look what we found for you uncle!
Low and behold when they approached the long slimy creature again, it was crumbled and dried.
Gaia: W-what happened? H-he was fine just a couple of minutes ago...
Helios: It's alright kiddo, I think he's just in his sleeping state. Lets leave him be until he wakes up.
The girls solemnly shook their heads and started to walk towards the fountain joining their houses together.
???: Gaia! I thought I told you to come inside! What are you doing it's still--
Gaia: Uncle! I called him on time this year, see! See!
Helios: Gaia...
Gaia: Ahem, I mean Athy called him...B-but only because she asked to!
Athena's father walked closer to the three of them, his silk robes flowing in the nonexistent wind, and his golden leaf crown glimmering against helios' warmth.
Helios: Zeus, it's been some time.
Zeus: So it has, so it has 'brother.'
Zeus picks up Athena and turns to walk back into his house, but stops at the doorway to say his final words.
Zeus: If you know what's good for you, you won't wake him up next year, Gaia.
