"Val? That's Ashton, that's Calum, and that's Michael. Can you get the envelope." I say pulling away from the hug. "Yeah of course." She gets up and goes to my closet. She grabs to envelope from the compartment. "Here." She says handing it to me. I open it finding the note and reading it. I flip the note over and see "Look under your moms dresser, if she's gone too.." "Someone. Go look under my moms dresser. If there is anything under there, grab it." I say between crying. Val runs into my mom's rooms and comes back with an envelope. She hands it to me. "Hello dear. I hope there was some sort of time between your mothers death and my death. How ever she died, wasn't an accident. When I first went to war, she said if I came home in a casket, she would kill herself. She made a promise of three years, I don't know if she kept that promise." Then it hits me. This morning was the three year anniversary of my dads death. "Dad. She kept the promise." I say to myself. I open the rest of the envelope. I find a ring, a piece of paper, and 1,000 dollars. The ring was my moms engagement ring, the paper was my parents vows. The 1,000 dollars is for her funeral. I bring my knees to my chest and I rest my forehead on them. It feels like I'm about to pass out, when everything begins getting blurry and the rim of my eyes is getting dark.
