I could smell it. Death. Despair. Blood. It was in the air. In my clothes. On my breath.

I could feel it. Sticky. Wet. Indescribable. It was all over my face, in my hair, on my hands.

But most of all, I could see it. It was dripping down my hands and a splatter dripped down into my mouth.

Bodies, everywhere. My family. And the person that mattered most. The one whose blood was on my lips. Sancha.

I cried, and I cried. Her beautiful silky black hair was sticky and stained in that ugly, ugly color.

I tried to spit her blood out, but that only made it worse.

Because I couldn't do it. No matter how much I wanted to, I couldn't do it. And that was the worst part. Because it had dawned on me.

I couldn't do it, because It liked it.

*Sakura's POV*

I hurriedly covered up the stupid trap with dirt. Another one of Hibiki's screams split through the night.

Sasuke hadn't woken up yet. In fact, none of them had. And I felt completely useless.

What was wrong with me? Yelling at Sasuke, telling him to do something. When all I did was stand there yelling their names.

Tears spilled down my cheeks and I silently scolded myself. Stop it Sakura, stop being such a burden and actually help. In any small way you can...

I jerked when another scream pummeled my ears.

Then a silent moan came from our little camp. I hurriedly went over and looked under.

All three had wet towels over their heads, except for Hibiki. I silently picked hers up off the ground, assuming the moan had come from her.

Then I heard it again. It was Sasuke. He turned his head towards me and opened one eye.

"S-Saku-ra?" I smiled.

"Don't worry Sasuke, I'll be right back. Hibiki has a fever and her towel keeps falling off. I'm off." I turned and began to walk out of our camp.

"Oh," I retraced my steps and peaked inside. Sasuke stared back at me.

"And don't worry if she screams."

*Sasuke's POV*

I was jolted awake by another one of Hibiki's horrid screams. She jerked and her towel fell off her forehead.

I sighed and scooted closer and closer to her. She was sweating really badly and when I set the towel back on her forehead I could feel how hot she was.

I was grateful, but I was also angry.

Hibiki saved my life and Hibiki is an Uchiha.

I noticed how labored her breathing was and reached up to take off her mask. She would forgive me. I can say I just wanted to return the favor and save her life too. Tell her she stopped breathing so I had to take off her mask and help her.

No. That last one was weird. I silently fought myself until my hands had already pulled her mask down.

And, shoot, she had the features of an Uchiha.

---------------------------------------------------

I was tired after having to fight those Sound Ninja with Sakura. Thankfully, Naruto had awoken, so I didn't have to carry him and Hibiki on my back.

Since Naruto was well rested and I was tired from fighting he carried Hibiki. We were getting close to the building and had finally gotten another scroll. Too bad we had to find another.
