I slammed my clenched hand into the rock over and over again.
"I couldn't stay and help Gaara."
Slam!
"I couldn't save Zabuza or Haku."
Slam!
"I couldn't save Sancha."
Slam!
"I couldn't save Lord Third!"
SLAM!
The stinging pain in my knuckles and the throbbing in my side didn't help dull the pain in my broken heart. In the heart that didn't truly belong to me.
"Why? Why does it hurt so badly?" I slid down the rock and onto the ground. "Why do I have to care so much about them? Why do they have to care so much about me?" Blood began to pour from my split knuckles, but I didn't care.
"Why do I love them?" I squeezed my eyes shut, pleading the tears to stop flowing so fiercely from my eyes.
"I love them... I love them all..." The faces of everyone I had met and got to know in my journeys flashed through my mind. "Why is love so painful?"
"Look what we have here." I snapped my head towards the voice and narrowed my eyes at the two people in front of me.
They were both dressed in dark black robes with red clouds. I automatically recognized the heartbeat of one of them.
"Kisame Hoshigaki." The one who had spoken looked up and smirked at me.
"You're one of Zabuza's little minions, right? A shame what happened to him, but he had it coming."
"Don't talk about Zabuza-Sensei. You don't know anything."
"Getting feisty are we?" I glared at him and stood up.
"I'm not in a very good mood."
"Kisame," the other person said. His voice was almost soft, but you could hear his intentions from that one word.
"I want to have some fun with this one. She's got the Executioners Blade on her back. I want to see if she's worthy of using it." He reached an arm back and grabbed the hilt of his sword.
I put my bleeding hand in front of my face and flicked the blood at him. The tiny bits of blood hardened and sharpened into points, piercing him in the leg.
He grunted and looked down where his blood was seeping through the cloak. "You little-"
"Don't even think about coming to the Leaf. Turn back now, or I'll be waiting," I activated my Sharingan for emphasis, "to stop you."
The other person looked up with hidden surprise. "Are you an Uchiha?" He questioned.
"Why do you ask?"
He stayed calm. "Kisame, this girl is not who we came here for. We came here for the Jinchuriki."
"Jinchuriki?" Naruto crossed my thoughts.
"It's none of your business." Kisame said.
"You sure? Because I think it is." He smirked at me.
"Kisame," there was slight irritation in the man's voice this time and Kisame turned away from me to look at him.
"Alright, Itachi. I'll let her go."
Itachi... Where have I heard that name before?
The man called Itachi turned away from me and disappeared. Kisame followed shortly after, but not before getting the last word. "Hope we meet again, girl. I'll be looking forward to it."
