Chapter 10: Lost Reasons

Zabuza-Sensei told me to make the bet fair, I have to go back to my "friends". So here I am, searching around for a drunken old man, three slightly annoying Genin, and one lazy Jounin. What fun!

"Excuse me, do you know where Tazuna lives?" I asked a shopkeeper. "Yes, just walk straight through town and make a left towards the woods. It will be somewhere near there." I nodded and bought an apple in thanks. I don't like apples much, but it was literally all she had. All the shops here are like that.

I followed the instructions the woman gave me and saw a house. This must be it, I thought as I made my way to the door. I knocked and a small boy answered.

"Who are you?"

"Is Tazuna here?"

"You're with those Leaf Ninja aren't you?"

"Is Tazuna here?"

He gave me an irritated look. "What do you want to see grandpa for?"

That was all I needed to know. I softly pushed the kid to the side and walked in.

"Hey! You can't just barge in here!"

It looked like I was in a dining room connected to a kitchen. A woman was standing there and she looked a little surprised. I wonder why...

"Do you know where my team is?" I asked her. Her eyes lot up with recognition and she nodded her head.

"You must be Hibiki! The one with the Leaf Ninja! Your team is protecting father at the bridge. Except for the blonde one, Naruto. He's probably still training."

"That sounds like something he'd do. I'll just wait here for him to wake up then we can go to the bridge." I pulled a chair out from under the table and sat down in it.

"Hey, Inari, could you help me with this?" The woman asked the kid, Inari. To help her with something.

I spaced out for a while before I heard two heartbeats coming from outside the door. I abruptly stood up. The woman, who I learned was Tsunami, looked at me in question. I put my finger up to my lips. She nodded her head and kept quiet. I motioned for her to take Inari and hide in another room. They both followed my advice and hid.

The two people finally decided to show themselves. One of them cut open a huge hole in the wall.

"Tell us where Tazuna's daughter is, and you won't die." One with purple makeup under his eyes like tears said.

I shrugged my shoulders. "I won't die either way." Before the both of them could react I started a set of hand signs and put them in a genjutsu.

"Thought you could get me that easily, aye?" I flew into a wall when a kick was sent right into my face. But I got them in my genjutsu!

I picked up my head and saw that I had only caught one of them.

"Crap," I said, starting another set of hand signs.

"No you don't!" The guy that I missed punched me and I fell to the floor.

"Your supposed to be a ninja? you can't even block my attacks! And your hand signs are to slow." he went down to punch me again, but I blocked him with my arms.

I took his moment of surprise to kick him in the stomach. I started the hand signs again and managed to put him under a genjutsu.

"That was totally awesome!" I jumped up and pumped my fist in the air before calming down a little. Something in my blood made me get really excited during and after a fight.

"Hibiki?!" Behind me stood Naruto with a surprised look on his face.

"Hi, we need to get to the bridge and help the others protect Tazuna. You two can come out!" Inari and Tsunami warily made their way out of their hiding spot.
