- Ruin The Friendship by Demi Lovato

Eileen

The following days went by with such speed that I barely even felt them. I was able to register for school and would be starting in only two weeks. My motivation remained the same. I wanted to make Angie proud. Despite she not being there physically, she was still present in my heart and mind.

I interacted with Lucas much more than I did with Alex. I had decided it was better to keep our communication limited. It was already difficult talking to him and not thinking inappropriate thoughts, or remembering how good we used to be together. Every now and then I'd notice how he would look at me, the same fire as before was there. I didn't think it would ever leave.

The door to my bedroom opened without warning. I'd grown used to Luke's intrusions. He would arrive unannounced and barge inside without warning. My dad didn't even bother arguing or stopping him anymore. There was a silent peace contract between them now, and though they didn't talk, they also didn't argue anymore. Most of the time.

"What are you doing?" He asked, laying down on the bed with me.

"I was trying to sleep," I replied, trying my best to sound annoyed.

"Let's go to the club," he said. I turned to face him, the surprise written all over my face.

"Are you crazy? Why would I go?"

"Why wouldn't you? You're twenty-two, never been to a club. You deserve to have some fun. I'll go with you, I think Alex is going and I'm pretty sure Addie is coming into town. Let's go. Have some fun, Leenie, live a little."

"Is Julia going?"

"No. I wouldn't put you in that uncomfortable situation, Eileen."

"It will still be uncomfortable with Alex there, Luke."

"I'll be there."

I agreed to go, regardless of how awkward I thought it would be. It was true, I never did have fun, or party. I never had the chance. Of course, in no way did I regret my daughter. But Luke was right, I needed to live. The thought of enjoying the night out with friends excited me.

As it turned out, since I never did party, I didn't have anything to wear. Nicole was eager to take me shopping and insisted that my dad stay behind because he likely wouldn't like what we chose, whatever that meant. I had no idea what to wear. Nicole, on the other hand, had too many ideas of what I could wear.

"Look, what about this one?" She held up a two piece black dress. It covered one shoulder, and a small part of my waist would be showing.
