Grace was on her way to deliver some items that she and her staff had made for the children at St. Frances Children's Hospital.
They would always be sure to make plenty of small blankets, pillowcases, and knitted hats for the kids that had been admitted into the hospital. Her heart went out to each and every one of those poor kids.
Grace knew that they must have been scared to be in such an unfamiliar place. She hoped that these little things would bring a little comfort back into their life.
Grace pulled into the hospital parking lot and started to look for a parking place that would be close enough to the front doors.
She really didn't like the idea of walking five miles in the cold drizzling wet rain, not tonight, but she would if she had to.
Grace drove around seeing a parking place in the second row close enough to the front doors that she wouldn't succumb to frostbite.
"Thank the gods. They must be smiling down on me tonight!"
Grace pulled into the parking place, killing the engine and started to get out of her SUV.
She needed to go inside and get some help. Grace knew that she couldn't possibly carry all these bags in by herself - the whole back of her SUV was crammed full.
If she was lucky enough, Leon would be in his office tonight. She had to remind him about his appointment for tomorrow.
She had tried to call him all day but wasn't able to get a hold of him.
Leon was a friend of the family he'd worked with Grace's dad for many years. Her dad had been a pediatrician here at St. Frances Children's Hospital for ten years before her parents moved to Florida last year.
As Grace started walking to the front doors to the hospital, she noticed that the drizzle started to come down heavier.
Grace's blonde, hair fell past her shoulder blades. The drizzle was causing it to look like a flat, stringy mess. She picks up her pace and ran the rest of the way to the front doors.
Grace opened the door, feeling the blissful warm heat reaching out and warming her body up almost instantly.
Grace made her way to the administering office, seeing Holley at her desk. Holley was a small-framed lady, maybe five feet at the most, where Grace was five seven.
Holley didn't look like she even weighed a hundred pounds, where Grace weighed around a hundred twenty-five.
Holley had always had the same black bob haircut for the past seven years that Grace had known her. Although she never told Grace her age, Grace guessed Holley to be in her mid-fifties.
This past November 25th, Grace had turned twenty-seven, and sad to say, she was still single and had no prospects in the near future.
Holley has been married for thirty years, and Grace hoped that one day she would find someone to be married to for a lifetime.
Holley looked up from the paperwork that she was working on. She got up from her chair and started walking over to Grace. "Grace, my dear, you look lovely."
"You as well, Holley. Is Leon in tonight?"
"Yes, he is, Grace. Leon should be out shortly. He's in a late meeting. He shouldn't be much longer, though."
"Thank you, Holley. Would you mind if I borrow a few of your staff members to bring in the things that we made for the children? I could use some help to carry them in from my vehicle."
