Stephen left Grace and the two sisters alone. He walked inside his bedroom, toward the window and gazed up at the starry night sky, remembering back to the anomalous night that changed his life three centuries ago.~~~~***~~~~
Stephens' eyes cracked open, his stomach churning, body weak from the Vampires attack he had Endured. As he laid in his own blood on the dusty wood floor, he pushed the bile down rising in his throat wondering how much blood the Devil had stolen from him.
He tried moving his head off the floor, but the agonizing pain raging inside his skull caused his head to fall back to the wooden floor.
He'd become accustomed to pain, living life as a pirate over the years, but nothing like this searing pain.The pain eloping throughout his body felt as if the Devil had rammed a hot branding iron inside him, it would have been easier if the Devil just slit his throat.' Boy, he could use a clap of thunder to drink about now.'
He laid there quietly, focusing on the creeks of the ship around him to help block out some of the pain feastings inside his body.
He must be down in the cargo hold of the ship, the smell of the musty hessian sackcloths. He had to get up off this damn floor, he couldn't lay here like a salmagundi pig and be slaughter."Damn this pain too hell, you're No coward!" He mumbled.
He lifted himself up again from the floor to his shaky forearms.
His head field with gray haze then the room went black, his arms gave way underneath him, causing his forehead to bounce against the dusty floor."Blast it!" He yelled. He laid still for a moment collecting his strength, before lifting himself up again.
After a few enduring tries he finally succeeds on hoisting himself upright, he shut his
eyes and rested his unsteady body for a moment.'This would be more pleasant if he were loaded to the gunwales.'
Stephen heard the heavy booted footsteps waking closer toward him, he took in a breath and opened his eyes.
He wanted to stand on his own two feet, and have his revenge on this Vampire.
The anger, hatred siring through his veins, how this, dammed forsaken Devil slaughtered his men made Stephens' blood erupting like a raging volcano.
No man, no man, deserved to be ripped apart like a herd of livestock. This dammed creature would pay for killing his men.
~~~~***~~~~
The Vampire walked a full circle around Stephen and studied him for a moment before he kneed down on one knee and brought his face next to Stephen.
Stephen looked at the man as he placed his index finger underneath his chin, and slightly lifted it towards him, "I see your finally awake Captain. I hope you enjoy your little rest?"
Stephens' words were laced with venom, as he spoke to the Vampire, "Take Yer boney, slimy hand away from me face, you filthy, scurvy creature if you'd like to keep yer hand attached to ye damned fleabag ridden body."
He dropped Stephens' chin and roared out with laughter. "HAhaha! I like you, Captain! You're full of piss and vinegar.
Sadly as much as I enjoy pissing you off Captain, this isn't a social call. We have some unfinished business to attend too."
The Vampire wrapped his hand around Stephens' throat picking his body up off the floor, holding him up next to his face. "How about, I introduce myself to you, Captain? My name is Kane...Kane Mazarin."
Stephen felt the acid in my stomach churn as he heard the man speak, all he wanted to do is gut this man open with his cutlass, and hang' him from the yardarms to die.
Aaarrrggghhh, I don't give two's shits what ye call yer-self, ye damn scurvy dog!" He yelled spitting in Kane's face.
Kane's fingers brushed away the disgusting saliva from his face and squeezed Stephens' neck tighter before slamming his body down on the hard wooden floor, "Don't try my patience Captain, you belong to me now! Don't make me become a monster. You'll soon learn your place with me, Captain, I would advise you to learn it quickly. Trust me, Captain, you don't want me as your enemy."
"I hoped, you would be more appreciative of your new life I'm about to give to you, but your acting like a filthy dog Captain! I see I will have to beat some manners into you, but, that will have to wait, until after we make it off of this raged vessel."
Kane picked him up again off the floor again, and dragged him over to the narrow stairs case pulling his body up the stairs like a sack of rice, towards the upper deck of the ship.
The fresh salty sea air filled his lungs and looked over to GRACE ANN where she still tendered at feeling reborn after seeing his ship still afloat.
Kane dropped him to the deck and walked over to towards the GRACE ANN." She's a beautiful lass floating on-top of the sea isn't she Stephen? It's a shame....that she'll have to be scuttled tonight."
Stephen was silent as Kane spoke until he heard the last words leave Kane's mouth, 'Scuttled tonight!' He quickly tried to stand, but his legs wobbled, knees buckled out from underneath him causing he crashes down to the deck.
He yelled at Kane when the scurvy dog started to walk over towards the EMPRESS ROSES, decks Guns."ME's will gut yer inters out ye Devil, if it's the lasts things ME's dos to you!"
He Crawled over towards Kane, as he fired the ROSES deck gun, shooting the GRACE ANN full of hot Coal's
"NOOOOOOOO!! YE Filthy Baster!"
Stephen died inside, his eyes glazing over with moister, as he watched his ship, the GRACE ANN catch on fire, like old wood kindling on a firepit, he'd been her Captain for seven years, and now she would be claimed by the sea.
Stephen pulled his eyes away from the burning inferno in front of him when Kane walked back towards him."Remember me words you baster, you'll pay for what he has done tonight." he mumbled angrily to Kane.
All Stephen remembered after watching the GRACE ANN burn like a bone fire on top the sea, is the sounds of flesh being torn open, and Kane forcing him to drink down the vile blood from his wrist.
"Stephen I had to set your ship on fire my boy, so we could be rescued, other ships from miles away will be able to see her smoke. Captain you and I both know, no one sailing on this sea would save a pirate ship.
Days past and Stephen hadn't seen another soul besides Kane, every night the vampire would feed him the thick, tacky blood.
His body became weaker as the long days passed by, he felt as if he had been hit by the plague, he wanted to die. The food he ate had no taste, and he could form the simplest words out of my mouth.
Kane walked over to Stephen and knelt down next to him."It shouldn't be much longer Stephen, the change is almost complete."
They heard the men's yells coming from the top deck of the ship. Kane stood up, "Captain, we've been saved. Stephen do as I say, or I will kill one man, every day we're out here at sea. Captain these men's lives are in your hands, it's your choice if they live or die."
The rage in his veins for Kane kept him going, he wouldn't let another man die again by Kane's hands.
Stephen would lay back, and play this game with Kane for now, one day Stephen would have his revenge and kill Kane.
