Kane sat in-front of the fireplace in his study gazing into the fire, thinking about his former life. Something he never allowed himself to do. But seeing Thalia tonight flooded his mind with memories of his past life. Images flashed before his eyes like a movie, and cry's of battle echoed through his ears. He could still remember that day, that day of death like it were yesterday.*Kane's flashback*
Thousands of knight brothers, the Soldiers of Christ, joined together to fight against the Fatimid of Egypt. The knights fought for days, even weeks at a time without rest and with very little food in them, against the Shirkuh's army.
The Shirkuh's army was clever, they would lie and weight ambushing, then attacking the knights retrieving their new supplies that came-in. After months of these's supply attacks from the Shirkuh's,
Alec and the other commanders of the foot army began to ration out the food and wine among's their fellow knights when the supplies became depleted. The rations the men were given were very little, they consisted of few dried dates, a hand full of nuts, a small portion of bread and cup of wine, this kept the men alive, but didn't keep them strong enough to fight in battle.
When the Shirkuk's army attacked the knights for the last time, they had tripled their number's in soldiers, the knights didn't stand a chance against them. You could hear men screaming as they were stabbed, lost their arms, and heads, some even had their throats slit open to bleed out onto the dry desert floor.
The knights were just not strong enough to hold-back the Shirkuk's army this time around because of their malnourished state. Some of the commanders left out when they saw the massive group of Shirkuk's army heading towards them, including Kane's commander Alec.
Kane fought alongside his Brother knights, until he was a stab in his shoulder-blade knocking him to his knees, then getting trampled down to the ground by the others that fought around him.
After the attack, Kane laid underneath a pile of bloody body's alive, he thought about his commander and confidant Alec, the man that he considered to be like his own brother, had just left him behind on the desert floor to rot, like a lamb to the slaughter.
He knew that when the Shirkuh's troops found him alive laying there, they would torturer, then they would kill him, Kane would not die like this.
Kane begins pushing his fellow dead knights body's off of his, however, the task left his body feeling depleted of its energy.
Setting there for only a moment, he begun to set himself upright, but the pain from the bruising and the lacerations that he had attained during the battle hit him, with a wave of dizziness causing him to fall back down flat against desert floor again, closing his swollen eyes, he let the darkness consume him.
When Kane woke-up he heard the sounds of muffled voices around him, he took a few moments to gain-up enough strength, to open up his eyes to the cool night sky.
He could hear the moaning coming from every distraction around him, from the other wounded knights, he needed to try to help them. Rolling himself over onto his stomach, he began to crawl himself towards the closest man to him.
When Kane reached the man, he noticed that he looked fairly young, barely old enough to be called a man at all. The young-man was also fatally wounded, he'd been gutted open from the navel up to his sternum, his legs had been cut off at the kneecaps, this type of act was just peer butchery in Kane's eyes.
Kane was astonished by the site that laid before him, the young man was still trying to fight for his life, but Kane knew that the young man wouldn't live much longer maybe an hour at most.
