After dinner they all directed me to the ceremonial building. The name is self-explanatory. While we were walking to the building Shard explained what was going to happen. The ceremony is to welcome all new comers and to give them their wings. After all, you won’t be an Aneon without wings. He said the Headmistress is in charge of doing the ceremonies and that it’s painless. I was excited and nervous at the same time. I walked up the stairs with Shard close behind me and Snow in front of me. We all filed into the building. It looked like the whole school was there. We entered the ginormous hall. It had an ancient look to it. It was decorated with many coloured flowers. I looked up and saw a huge crystal chandelier in the centre of the ceiling. The walls and floor were black marble, the roof was white marble and the pillars were white granite. There was a huge circle on the floor, under the chandelier. Within that circle was a picture of four people that had wings on the floor. Two women and two men. The women had white wings, the men had black. They looked strangely familiar. Shard took my hand and led me to the middle of the circle.

“Stay here. I’ll be right over there.” He pointed to where Snow was standing. He squeezed my hand and walked over to where Snow was. The room fell silent and the lights went off. Someone shone a light at the chandelier and the chandelier sent tiny light beams all over the room.

“Boys. Girls. Show your wings. Feel the power from within.”

A powerful voice said. I know that voice. It’s Headmistress. Everyone around me started to show their wings. Wings of both black and white feathers. I looked for Shard and when I found him, I saw that two beautiful wings protruded from his back. He looked amazing. He smiled at me and I smiled back. Then the headmistress emerged from the shadows with her wings showing also. She walked up to me and smiled.

“Circle, light!” She commanded. Her voice echoed throughout the building. Instantaneously, the circle around us lit up in a ring of fire. She started to say a chant in Spanish;

“Queens of the world above and Kings of the world below. We come again to bring forth a new sister Aneon. We ask that you keep your wings over her and watch her and protect her. Queen Adalia and Alicia fill her with grace and wisdom. To be as daring as you were. King Aarón and Ambrosio fill her with strength and nobility. To be as protective as you were. Welcome her with open arms and wings.” I translated in my mind.

I felt energy serge through me. Power and energy coursing through my veins. It felt good. I felt powerful.

“Now Alexis if you don’t mind. Can you take off your shirt and leave on your vest, unless you don’t mind your wings ripping through your shirt.” The headmistress whispered to me.

“I don’t mind it ripping my shirt.” I replied.

“Suit yourself.” She moved behind me and put her hand on my shoulders and said aloud, “El poder desde dentro de su alma. La bendiga con sus propias alas.”

“Power from within her soul. Bless her with her own wings.”

She drew two circles on my back with her finger (I’m guessing that’s where my wings are supposed to be) and stepped back. The circles on my back started to tingle. I could feel something pushing its way through my back. After a few moments I heard flapping behind me. I looked at my back and saw that two, beautiful black and white wings sprouted out my back. They were bigger than any of the other Aneon’s wings. One wing was pure black and the other was pure white. The crowd around me started mumbling and I heard some gasp. I looked at Shard and he smiled and stepped forward, through the fire. It didn’t hurt him or burn him.
