Black emptiness shrouded me. In the distance I saw a silhouetted figure of a person. They laughed manically and opened there eyes. Golden cat eyes shone in the darkness.

“Nate?” I said a little above a whisper.

“No. Not Nate, my dear princessa,” they sneered and mocked the name princessa.

They clapped their hands together and instantaneously the darkness was illuminated. Everything was so bright now. We were in an empty, white room with no doors, windows or any escape routes. My eyes adapted to the light and my vision settled on the person.

“Fate!” I said in an exasperated gasp.

“I am truly honored. The princess actually knows my name. What do I owe thee, the pleasure of having you remember my name?” Fate teased me.

I took a few steps backward, but my back hit the wall. Fate advanced toward me. He slammed his hand against the wall above my head and hissed at me.

“You hurt my queen,” his face got closer to mine.

“ ‘Queen’!? Who’s that?” I asked.

“Crystal. She is the love of my life. I will not allow anyone to hurt her and those who have shall pay the price,” his cold, piercing eyes stung me...deep.

“She’s only using you! Using you for her own selfish reasons, which is to get revenge on me,” I said before I even realized I had.

Fate’s eyes grew wide in shock. He raised his hand and slapped me across my face. I was so shocked by his actions that I only just blinked blankly at the floor. He used his fingers and pulled my head back in the direction of him to face him. My cheek stung and turned a bright shade of pink.

“If you know what is good for you, I would not speak badly of my queen if I were you. I will make your death crueler than it already is,” he warned me.

I was still focused on the fact that he hit me.

That felt too real to be a dream…

“You think this is just dream? It may be a dream, but this conversation is real. I have visited your dreams to tell you that I am going to kill you in a month’s time,” he smirked deviously at me.

“I already know…” I said as I shoved him away from me.

“Feisty. I like it. But how do you know of this?” he raised a curious eyebrow at me.

“I saw you and Crystal. If you didn’t want to be caught, next time think twice about having make-out sessions outside my room,” I rolled my eyes at him.

“A little eavesdropper I have here,” he smirked and pinned me against the wall again.

“Wh-what are you doing!?” I tried to shove him off of me again.

“Giving you a little taste of how painful death can be,” he whispered.

He raised his hand again. Only now had I realized that his nails were extremely long and pointed at its edges. He brought his hand down to the center of my chest. I felt the tips of his nails poke my chest, but soon that poking feeling turned into a stabbing feeling. Fate was pushing his hand through my chest. I yelled in pain.

Alexander! I found myself calling out to Alexander for help.

Fate laughed and said, “you really are cute.”

He leaned in close to me and stared into my eyes. He forced his hand further into my chest. I opened my mouth slightly to let out another groan in pain, but Fate closed the remaining space between us and kissed me. His tongue made its way into my mouth. I squeezed my eyes shut. As Fate’s hand moved even further through my chest I groaned in pain and tried to yell but he kept his mouth over mine. He was torturing me with pain and fooling around with my body. Finally I felt him grab my heart and squeezed it tight. He pulled away, both hand and mouth. I arched my back and screamed out in pain as he ripped my heart right out of my chest.

I jumped out of bed as I felt a rocking sensation. Alexander was shaking me to get up.

“Alexis!” he yelled, trying to get through to me.

I held my chest and was breathing heavy, uneven breaths.

“What’s wrong!?” he shook me trying to get me to focus.

Instantly I clung to Alexander and buried my face into his shoulder. I was not crying but I was scared. I did not know what to do.

“Ali… Tell me what happened,” he stroked my hair and said in a calm, soothing voice.

“Fate just visited me in my dreams. He ripped my heart out. He said that he was giving me a taste of what death feels like,” I told him through thought.

If I had said it out loud, I was uncertain if my voice would waver or not. Alexander tensed up but calmed me down some. He then tilted my head up and said, “I will not let anything or anyone harm you.”

He kissed the top of my forehead and rested his forehead against mine.

“Now, come. I’ll make sure he does not visit your dreams again. But we need to sleep,” he lay back down and pulled me down with him.

He put me to lie on his chest. I heard his steady, powerful heartbeat. Hearing this made me feel somewhat safe. It felt natural to do this. Being close to Alexander like this just makes me feel happy. It makes me remember what it feels like to be loved. He continued to stroke my hair until I fell asleep. I was closer to him, just as I wanted to be. But now, I want to be even closer. Alexander did keep his promise of not letting Fate enter my dreams, because all I was able to dream of was him.
