The deafening bell rang to end the last class of the day. “Ohmygod I thought Science was never gonna end!” yelled Nicki. Nicki is my best friend since grade three. She’s been there for me through thick and thin. She’s a short, anorexic looking, blond but she’s my best friend. I learn to love her.  “Yea I know what you mean” I replied. We walked down the hallway to our lockers while she went on and on about her date with Jake Johnson, the high school jock, yesterday. I wasn’t quite paying attention, I was busy thinking. Same dream over and over again. Do I know that guy? No, I don’t know someone that amazing. If I did, I wouldn’t forget him. Every now and then I heard what she was talking about. She said something about him getting a nose bleed but like I said before, I wasn’t really listening.I opened my locker to put away my books when someone slammed it shut almost slamming it on my fingers. “Hey! Watch it!” I rubbed my hand making sure all fingers were intact. I turned around to yell at the person who slammed my locker shut but when I turned around a tall, tan skinned boy was standing there looking me straight in the eyes. He had brown, long-ish hair, soft grey eyes and the cutest freckles ever. He had this strange mark on his cheek. It was shaped like a harp with angel wings and it seemed like it was glowing. It looked so realistic, it made me feel to reach out and touch it. I shook my head to refocus on him and not his strange mark. He is not from this school so what is he doing here? “Ummm, how can I help you?” I asked as politely as I could, trying not to stare at his mark. He didn’t say a word. All he did was smile a cocky looking smile and handed me an envelope with my name printed in big, golden letters across the front. I stared at it then I stared at him with a WTF? look on my face. “Just take it, and say ‘yes’. Alright?” he answered as if he read my mind. I took the envelope and stared at it long. Nicki joined in, held an edge of the envelope and stared at it too. When I looked up to question him on it, he was gone.

“Who was that Hotty Mc Totty?” Nicki nudged my shoulder.

“To be honest, I don’t know him at all.” I shrugged.

I opened the envelope and found a card in it. It had the words ‘ANEONS’ written in big golden letters too.

“Aneons?”

“What the hell is that?”

“Hmmm open the card” She insisted.

I opened the card and read it out aloud:

Dear Alexis Night,

This is the principal of the school for Aneons. This is a school for students that have, unique, powers and personalities. To us you may be one of them and we ask that you consider coming to this school. Please make a decision as soon as possible. If you do choose to attend our school, just turn this card over and look straight into the golden emblem. You won’t need to pack clothes we already have that in order.

Yours Respectfully,

Ms.  Joanne Rodriguez

Headmistress

“What?! You get a letter like this and I don’t? This sucks.” She said so plainly.

“You know about this school? How come I never heard of it before?” I interrupted her child-like pouting.

“Only the best get accepted into that school, at least that’s what I hear. One day they go an ordinary school the next day they’re there and are never heard of again. I heard the whole school is filled with only good-looking people. You’re so damn lucky. You can’t turn down this opportunity. Also I heard those who turned it down fell ill or something and died.”

“Well I guess I can’t say ‘no’. But when should I go?”

“You read it! She said ‘ASAP’

“So you think I should go now?”

“Of course I say “Hell no!” cause’ you’re my best friend but I don’t want anything bad to happen to you. So I say… Yes, go now. I’ll miss you like crazy though.”

“I can’t go just yet. I have to say goodbye to all the little kids at the orphanage.”

“You mean your kids?”

“You know they aren’t mine…they just think of me as their mother.”

“You really care for them don’t you?”

“Of course! I love them with all my heart. Especially lil’ Annie.”

“Yeah she could be your daughter. I mean she follows you everywhere and practically looks like you.”

Out of nowhere I started to have a coughing fit.

“Oh no. If you want to say your goodbyes, you might want to do it fast. You weren’t sick a minute ago. Just…take this to remember me” She handed me a locket and continued “don’t open it till you reach to that new school and don’t let any boys distract you or break your heart. If they do, call me and I will come down there to kick all their as-” I cut her off.

“Okay! Jeez I get it. I know how to take care of myself you know. Anyway, thanks.”

I hugged her and blinked hard, trying not to cry. This will be the last time I see my best friend. It seemed like we would grow old and still be best friends and hang out, but now this changes and ruins that dream. OH NO! I forgot I need to tell Declan I’m going.

“Nicki before I shove off can you, uhh, tell Declan the news? He’d be heart-broken if I left without thinking of him.”

She made kissing noises and said “You mean your boyfriend?”

“He is not my boyfriend! He’s just a friend…that happens to be a boy.”

“Not just any boy. A hot boy!”

It’s true. Declan was one of the hottest boys in my school. He’s just so perfect! Good grades, athletic, definitely good-looking, sweet, charming, funny. Heck, I could go on forever with this list. He needs know I’m leaving but I have no time to find him.

“Would you do it?”

“Sure! I promise, now go on fast before you drop from a heart attack or something. Also remember the seven B’s!”

I grinned and dashed for the door with my bag over my shoulder. The seven B’s…Books Before Boys Because Boys Bring Babies. How can I forget the seven B’s if she keeps reminding me. I shook my head and smiled.Thankfully the orphanage, other known as my home, is only four blocks away. I tried to doge all the people I knew, just in case any of them want to stop for a chat. I crossed the front of the school with ease, only a few more steps to the sidewalk.

Hey! Alexis!” I heard someone yell in the distance behind me. I swore under my breath. It’s Declan. I turned on my heels with a forced smile painted across my face.

“Hi.”

“So you were gonna leave without saying bye?” He smiled at me. The smile that used to make me melt in my shoes but now is not the time to melt.

“Sorry, can’t talk. I’m in a hurry.” I tried to walk off but he ran up to my side and grabbed my hand.

“Did I do something wrong?”

“Oh not at all! That’s not it at all.”

“Okay good cause’ the last thing I want to do is upset you. So what’s really up?”

I had a coughing fit again but i tried to talk between coughs.

“I…can’t…in…hurry…Nickie…tell you…gotta go!”

I ran for the sidewalk and attempted to wave at him while running. I heard his footsteps behind me for a while but then they stopped. I turned around, still running, and saw him standing there. Oh god please tell me he’s not angry with me for leaving suddenly. No time to stop. I don’t have much time.
