Shard didn’t come to pick me up so I had to wonder around to find the café. Eventually I found my way to the garden in the center of this whole maze, after a lot of wrong turns and a lot of dead ends.
“Okay…so where from here now?” I said aloud
I thought about it for a few moments until someone rested their hand on my shoulder from behind.
“HOLY SH-!” I jumped out of my skin and turned around. It was Ché.
“Hey, sorry. I thought you might want my help to get to where you needed go.” He raised his hands as if surrendering.
I put my hand where my hammering heart was beating against my chest to steady it. I took a few deep breaths.
“Okay. What is up with people a scaring the crap out of me!?” I threw my arms up in the air complaining.
He backed away a little and acted a little guilty. I calmed down and put my hand on his shoulder and said, “Sorry. I just need…to really get to the café.”
He raised an eyebrow at me and said, “That’s it? The café? Oh come on. I could find that place blind folded.”
I gave him a ‘not helping’ look. He chuckled and unfurled his wings. What is he up to? His wings were a gorgeous color white. There were some black feathers…but they looked too un-real. He reached for me but I backed away from him. “What are you doing?” I asked.
“I’m taking you to the café, the easy way.” He answered.
He reached for me again. I took his hand and he pulled me close to him in a hug. I felt his wings beat the air around us. Feeling this wind made my wings itch under the surface of my back, pushing to come out. But I had to try to hold it back. Instead of focusing on my wings I focused on him. We were now up in the air. I felt around on his back to see what it felt like to touch the part on your back where the wings protruded. Eventually I found it and it felt strong and muscular. He shuddered under my touch which made me pull back my hands. “Sorry. Did I hurt you?” I asked softly.
“No. It felt…good. Your…touch, feels good. It sends like a static through me.” He looked down at me and smiled.
I nuzzled his neck. He sent a static through me too. It felt, good. His angelic charm is just drawing me to him. Whatever he’s doing to me, I don’t want it to stop.
“You really are pretty, you know?” He smiled a cocky looking smile.
“Thanks.” I said sheepishly.
After a few moments we were in front of the café. He retracted his wings and led me into the café. Walking into the café was simple. All eyes fell on me, and pretending they weren’t was the hard part. A few guys from a table in the far corner called out to Ché and he ran off telling me he’d catch up to me later. I went in the line to get a salad. After I got my salad I searched for the table with my crew on it. I couldn’t find them until I heard two familiar voices arguing somewhere behind me. Kyle and Kim. I turned around to find Snow holding back Kyle and Shard holding back Kim while Ronald stood in between them, pushing them away in different directions. I walked up to the table and sat next to Crystal.
“So what did I miss?” I asked her already knowing the answer.
“Same-old, same-old. Kyle and Kim started to fight in fencing class and accidentally injured an innocent by passer, got detention and blame each other for what happened.” She took a forkful of luscious, green lettuce from my plate and shoved it in her mouth.
I looked at them all and giggled. I can tell this will be something I’ll be seeing every day. After a few pulls and tugs they got the two to stop fighting. Again they sat down on either side of me while Crystal moved to the end of the table, Roland went to the other end and Shard and Snow were opposite Kim, Kyle and I. Ronald stayed particularly quiet today. I reached out to him through thought and said to him, “Ronald, what’s wrong? You seem particularly quiet today.”
