Chapter 5

"I hope things don't get awkward between us. You don't have to give me the answer right away. I'm willing to wait until you're ready. Whatever your answer is, please know that my thoughts of you will never change, you will forever be an angel in my eyes. Love, Jimin."

Maya sighs as she finished reading Jimin's letter aloud to me.

"It's actually a whole page long but I couldn't read the first part without breaking down." She sighed harder as she puts the letter back to her bag. I can feel her agony. I actually have mixed feelings right now. One, I'm cringing, I have never thought, ever in my life, that Jimin would have the gall to be writing a letter with these cheesy words. Two, I really feel bad for Jimin, I have another word in mind but I can't bring myself to say it as Jimin doesn't deserve to be treated this way, he doesn't deserve to be pitied.

"Why did this have to happen? The timing is just so wrong. Why do they have to confess at the same time?" she continued, she was walking back and forth from her spot, clearly uneasy from what's happening.

"Yeah, the timing is just so awful. And where is the culprit of this mess? He's supposed to be here 15 minutes ago!" I yelled, irritated by the fact that the one who's the main reason for this meeting is missing. We decided to hold our discussion in the rooftop and by now, it's still just Maya and me.

All of a sudden, the door swung open.

"Sorry, I was busy running away from Taehyung." Jungkook said as he catches his catches his breath.

"Yeah you with that 'busy' card again. Do you know how urgent this is?!" I shouted, smacking his head.

"Ouch! How many times do I have to say not to touch my head? You can touch the other head but not this." He replied as he ruffles his hair.

"And you have the balls to be making jokes at this moment?! You f(urgh bad word kids shouldn't say this) insensitive bastard!"

Maya lets out a soft giggle towards Jungkook. Jungkook blushes as he approaches Maya. He then pushes his elbow against her, which earned even more giggles from the two of them.

Oh really? Flirting? Right in front of my salad?

"*Cough* *Cough* Excuse me. If you haven't forgotten I'm actually here." I said, raising my eyebrow. The two of them stopped and looked like two siblings getting punished by their mom. They really do deserve punishment.

"Okay, I'll start. Jungkook." I said, turning to his direction.

"Why?" was the only thing I could ask, as I'm still trying to construct my question.

"What do you mean why?" he asked sarcastically.

"Why... Why are you like that? You know Jimin likes Maya, how could you even do this? It goes against you two's bro code or whatever sht you guys have. And what do you think people would say if they knew about this? One day, Jimin confesses he likes Maya, then the next day, you two are already going out? What sorcery is this? Are you playing with our minds? How long has this been going? Did you have plans on telling us? Do you know what this would do to our friendship?!" I stopped only because I had to catch my breath. I can feel my feelings exploding right now.

"Okay, first of all, as I've said. I liked Maya first." Jungkook defended.

"Oh you did? Really? Remember what you told me back in Chapter 2? Remember you said quote unquote 'I don't like goody two shoes kind of girl. You know I prefer my girls wild and naughty.'" I said mocking his tone.

"Shut up! This is different. Those wild and naughty girls are only good for one night, but Maya is different." He looked at Maya sincerely and held her hand. Maya was taken aback by his action. She blushed and held his hand tightly.

"Maya is special. She's the kind of girl I would love forever, not for one night, but someone I'm willing to spend the rest of my life with. Besides, I liked her ever since Namjoon showed me her picture before." He stated with conviction.

"Do you hear what you're saying? Maya, do you hear what he's saying? He plays around with girls like they're nothing and you're willing to go out with this guy?!" I shouted while pointing my finger to Jungkook. I don't care if I sound harsh; she needs to open her eyes.

"Hey Y/N, I can hear what you're saying you know." Jungkook interrupted, seemingly offended by what I said.

"Yeah that's exactly why I'm saying this. You two need to hear this."

"I..."Maya whispered.

"I believe in Jungkook. I believe he'll change. Maybe not now, but someday, he'll change, gradually. I'll help him change. I'll support him. I trust him." Maya stopped to look at Jungkook.

"I like him." She continued and held Jungkook's hand even tighter. They both flashed their sweetest smile towards each other.

If you could just hear me barfing internally right now.

"Okay, okay!" I yelled while pushing their hands away from each other.

"I'll stop talking about those stuff, just stop flirting in front of me." I said regaining my composure.

"Why? Are you jealous Y/N?" Jungkook asked me sarcastically.

His insensitivity really leaves me speechless. Most of the time I wish he just shut his mouth, maybe forever.

"Ha. Ha. Ha. Not funny Jungkook." I said, displaying a forced smile.

"So you two claim to be all lovey-dovey with each other now, and I can't do anything about it. But, did you two stop for once to think what would Jimin feel in all of this?" I asked, lowering my voice.

The two looked at each other before looking at the floor in silence.

"Jungkook, imagine if this happened to you? Jimin doing this when he knows you like Maya, what would you feel?"

He lift up his head like he was about to say something, but stopped and stared at the floor in silence.

"And Maya, don't feel bad about this. You didn't do anything wrong. I mean, it's not your fault you're so loveable that two guys fell for you right? That's not your fault." I approached Maya and placed my hand on her shoulders. Okay, I'm sounding a bit bitter now.

"So when are you two planning on telling him? You better tell him sooner so this doesn't grow into something bad. I don't want to see Jimin get hurt." I looked away thinking about what would he feel if he knew about this. My poor baby brother Jimin, he doesn't deserve this.

"And neither do we." Jungkook came closer to me.

"We... I'll tell him when the time comes, when the time is right." Jungkook looked at my eyes and held my hand.

"J-jungkook what are you d-doing?" I asked as I was surprised by his action.

He moved my head closer to his face, holding our intertwined hands up and placed his camera in front of us. He smiled at the camera, so I smiled too (It's a picture I need to look good, don't judge me) and captured a selfie.

W-what is happening?

He looked at the photo before uploading it on instagram and typed "Right beside me <3" for the caption.

"Jungkook I'm lost. What is this?" I asked confused by his sudden actions.

"This is the solution we came up with. We're gonna pretend it's us who's dating." He replied as-a-matter-of-factly. Maya looked at me with a pleading look on her face, mouthing "Please."

"You don't want to hurt Jimin right? Well, I don't too. So just shut up and play along."

And that is how I gained a boyfriend.

We never expected how much of a scandal this caused us.
