Chapter 32:
Third person POV
The sun was shining brightly that day, it was a special day for Y/N. It was the day she'll be taking her entrance exam to that school in Australia, so she could live with her parents. Also, Taehyung told her he had something to say to her later that day. She was excited, at the same time anxious.
That was supposed to be her emotions right now, but now, that wasn't what was showing on her face. It was a mixture of guilt and sorrow. Taehyung wondered why she was looking like that and what could've possibly caused it, but he didn't ask her, instead, he kept quiet about it and waited for Y/N to open up about it. Waited.
Waiting. That's what he has done for the past few weeks, for the past months, for the past year. He had liked Y/N that long, but he hasn't confessed yet, he told her he was gonna wait until he feels like Y/N is ready. He never complained about it, he was happy just being with Y/N's company. He was grateful for the fact that Y/N let him wait for her. That was how much he loves her.
Taehyung woke up at exactly 5:00 AM that day, and he hates waking up early. But he did, because that day, he volunteered to take Y/N to the examination center which was 15 minutes away from their place. They were currently at the waiting shed, waiting for a taxi to pass by them.
Waiting. He was so used to waiting. Waiting was hard, was he just patient that he waited for this long? That question has been creeping into his mind for a while. He was questioning himself, but deep inside, he knew the answer. Waiting was the easiest option, it was the least risky option. Because, he, like Jungkook, was also a coward. He was afraid of getting rejected so he resolved himself to just wait. He was too afraid to leave his comfort zone, so he told her he was gonna wait. He even made excuses saying he will wait until she was ready to open up her heart to him. Who did he think he was he lying to? He knew himself she wasn't the one who's not ready. It was him. He wasn't prepared to be rejected. He liked her, he loved her, but at the same time, he knew he wasn't the one in her heart.
Despite being opposites, he got along well with Jungkook. He always wondered why but maybe this was the reason. Behind the facade they were wearing, they were the same coward persons inside. Afraid of getting hurt, afraid of getting rejected. They even fell for the same girl. They resolved to just wait for the girl to like them back, without actually putting an effort to it. Because they were afraid of rejection.
Taehyung have known this for a while now, that's why, when Jungkook confessed to Y/N, he felt devastated. He felt betrayed. How could Jungkook, the man same as he was, confess to Y/N without being afraid of getting rejected?
He felt defeated. He was, after all, one of the few people who knew it was Jungkook who owns Y/N's heart. He panicked, he didn't know what to do. Because he knew, Jungkook had the upper hand.
But he was proved wrong. He had heard rumors of how many times Jungkook had confessed to her, and was turned down the same amount of times. He felt bad, but he felt relieved. 'This way, maybe I have a chance.' That's when he thought, 'Maybe I should confess as well?'
That's what he had planned the night before, the night before that and the night before that. He told himself he was gonna gather all the courage to confess, he didn't care about getting rejected, he only cared about wanting to express his feelings for Y/N. To express his love for her.
He had practiced his speech a dozen times in front of the mirror, preparing himself for his confession, for the best and for the worst. He was feeling anxious, but today was finally the day he gets to do it. To profess his love.
