“Obviously I am new at this and we wouldn’t want lessons to start right away, now would we?” Mr. West started. “So, let’s just use the time to get to know each other. Tell me your name and anything else you want to say.”
A few seconds passed. When the thought of no one actually wanted to start got in to Mr. West’s huge head, he gave a light laugh flicking his head to his side to get the hair away from his electric blue eyes.
“Alright, since no one wants to start, I will.” He grinned leaning on the edge of his desk, his hands on his pockets. “Nate West, 22, favorite colors are black and red.”
After he finished the last word, a hand quickly shot up like lightning. “Mr. West do you live alone?”
“Yes.”
Another one shot up. “Do you have a girlfriend?”
“No.”
And another but this time, it was mine. “Mr. West, what was your most embarrassing and very interesting moment that happened recently?”
He stared at me with a startled expression but quickly changed into a thinking one before another grin managed its way up to his face. Why was he grinning all the time?! I swear he grins more than me for a whole year.
“It was very recent actually, just a few days ago.” He smirked. He was actually saying this? “I was at Starbucks and believe it or not, a girl actually saved me and even tipped me for something I cannot say. It more embarrassing than running around in your underwear, I can tell you that.”
The class started laughing, including me. He actually admitted it to the public, sucker!
“Okay, let’s start from the front to the back.”
“Rose Evans, 18.”
“Felix Smith, 18”
“Edward Johnson, 19”
“Dylan Ross, 17.”
“Come on class, say something else than your name and age.” Mr. West complained walking towards my table and set his hands on the edge of my desk, smirking. “Your turn.”
I sighed before standing up. The other people’s heads turned towards me probably because I was new and they didn’t know a thing about me.
I bit my bottom lip before I started, “Kate Ellison, 17.” I looked around, unsure what to say.
“What else, Ms. Ellison? Favorite color? Book? Movie? Incident?” he said the last word slowly making sure he emphasized it.
“Uhh, black and silver, Harry Potter, Harry Potter.” I answered in order to his questions, except for the last one. “I don’t have a favorite incident.”
“I see, next?”
I slumped down on my seat with a sigh, waiting for the bell to ring while listening to the others.
When the bell finally rang, I jumped and sat in shock like most of the students. They were already packing up their things and headed out of the room. I looked up and saw the room was already empty besides me and Mr. West since I remembered I had double chem today.
“What are you still doing?” Mr. West raised a brow. “Falling for my good looks already now, Ms. Ellison?”
“Dream on.” I scoffed at him. “Unfortunately, I have double chemistry today until Wednesday so suck it up.”
“You shouldn’t talk to your teacher like that, Kate.”
“You shouldn’t talk to your student like that Mr. West.” I mimicked him in a mocking voice, earning a glare and a chuckle from him.
