With my feet on top of Aaron’s lap, I scanned the channels of the television in a search for a good show. All it had was commercial about lotions, make- ups, snacks, foods, drinks and of course, everyone’s favorite, condoms. They actually advertise these? It’s like saying people should have sex more often and they’re broadcasting in nationwide.
The sound of heels tapping against the wooden floor of the house echoed through the living. Being me- a nosy person, I pushed myself up so that I was sitting on the couch, just to peek what was making that sound.
It was my mom wearing a red dress and a pair of stilettos. Since when did mom dress so formal? A wide grin came up to my face, and so was at Aaron’s. Mom looked at us weirdly and creeped out, like she knew what was going with our heads.
“Mom, I’m taking Kate out for some sibling bonding time.” Aaron spoke fast, turning his head back to the television. I looked at him weirdly. A sibling bonding time over dinner? Seriously Aaron, what’s going in your empty head?
“Are you sure you’re alright Aaron? What did you eat? Kate, did you give him poison or something?”
“Mom!” I argued with her. “I would give him about five sleeping pills. I don’t want to be charged for murder.”
“Good to know.” Aaron stuck his tongue at me, “I love you too, sis.”
I rolled my eyes at him and turned to mom. “Where are you going?”
“On a date.” She said nonchalantly pushing her phone in purse that coordinated with her dress but I gave an unsatisfied look. “With Logan…”
I nearly choked on my on saliva. “Logan? Isn’t he back in Virginia?”
“Yes…and he moved here.”
Logan Evans is my mom’s ‘boyfriend’ back in Virginia and well, I thought they broke up when we moved but I thought wrong apparently. It’s kind of gross though. Imagine, your forty- two year old mom, still dating and I swear sometimes she giggles in excitement.
“When?”
“Before we did.”
“Holy…” was all I could say at the moment before saying, “That’s the reason why we moved here, right? And not my problem?”
“No…”
“Don’t deny mom. Your eyes are showing it.” I shook my head at her playfully and stood up.
“Where are you going?” Aaron called.
“To change for our bonding time.” I replied in a duh tone but I know what he meant by those words when he said sibling bonding time. He meant one thing, to spy on mom’s date.
So we’ve caught mom in a date with Logan loads of times already and I’ve got to say, Logan’s not that bad.He was taller than me but was about an inch taller than Aaron. He had black hair with brown highlights and probably had the dullest gray colored eyes I’ve ever seen. And his usual fashion was long sleeve button up shirts, dark colored slacks and a pair of shiny black leather shoes. One thing more- he didn’t have those huge and gigantic bulging stomachs overflowing the pants that were buttoned up tightly.
I changed quickly and went down where I found Aaron already suited up. Whoa, that was fast. Mom was still here, putting on the last touch ups of her make –up. I rerouted my way and found myself in the kitchen with a plate of cookies. I was munching on them quietly until the door rang.
My mom was busy keeping all her stuff and Aaron was well, Aaron and that meant a lazy ass. So that only meant me. I grunted my way to the door, my mouth filled with cookies.
